NEW SCREAMIN’ EAGLE DESTROYER A QUARTER-MILE SPECIALIST

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (July 23, 2005) - The thunder of wide-open exhaust and a cloud of tire smoke will announce the arrival of the VRXSE Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod Destroyer, a 165+hp, professional-level drag-racing motorcycle designed exclusively for competition by Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations and available to racers through Harley-Davidson dealers.
The Harley-Davidson CVO program creates low-volume, custom motorcycles produced by skilled technicians in special assembly areas at the Harley-Davidson plants in York, Pa., and Kansas City, Mo. A limited by-dealer-only order quantity of the 2006 Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod Destroyer motorcycles will be assembled at the Kansas City Vehicle and Powertrain Operations facility. The first of these motorcycles will be available for delivery in late 2005.

While it is based on the 2006 VRSCA V-Rod chassis, the Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer is not street legal and is designed specifically for competitive drag racing at various levels and race tracks, including a new All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) Pro class to be introduced for the 2006 racing season, according to Harley-Davidson Racing Manager Anne Paluso.

“The Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer represents a synergy between CVO, Screamin’ Eagle Pro Products and our involvement in drag racing from the professional to grass-roots levels,” said Paluso. “It’s a radical relative of the 2006 VRSCSE2 Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod and NHRA Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod racing motorcycle. It’s a turn-key bike tuned to make sub 10-second quarter-mile runs in the hands of a pro-level rider.”

The final design of the Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer was completed with input from Matt Hines, crew chief for the NHRA Pro Stock Bike champion Screamin’ Eagle/Vance and Hines team.

The Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer is powered by a 1300cc (79 cu.in.) V-Twin Revolution liquid-cooled racing engine with 105 mm cylinders and a new 75 mm stroker crankshaft. The cylinders feature high-strength ductile iron sleeves. The forged pistons produce a compression ratio of 14.0:1. Special high-flow racing cylinder heads feature CNC porting, competition valves, springs, seats and keepers designed to work with new high-lift/duration cams. New 58 mm throttle bodies have tuned velocity stacks.

A racing transmission features modified input, actuator, and output shaft assemblies and an MTC multi-stage lock up clutch with an electric-over-air shift system. The chain final drive utilizes a 530 DRZ chain, the same as the one used on the Screamin’ Eagle/Vance and Hines Pro Stock Bike racing motorcycle. The front and rear sprockets are designed to facilitate easy track-side drive ratio changes. A three-piece, 2-into-1 ceramic-coated exhaust system features stepped headers and a turn-out collector. The engine is tuned to run on U4 racing gasoline and makes peak horsepower at 9700 rpm.

A special main wiring harness supports a programmable, multi-mode shift light, a two-stage launch box linked to the shift lever, and race-programmed ECM. The Destroyer will be shipped with a Screamin’ Eagle Race Tuner and is data-acquisition capable.

Chassis modifications include a special swingarm with custom rear-axle adjusters, solid rear struts and a wheelie bar with side panels. A friction-type steering damper is standard. The Destroyer is equipped with a single-disc front brake and braided brake and clutch lines. The Destroyer has a 3-inch x 18-inch front tire and a 6-inch x 18-inch rear tire, shod with a 3-inch x 18-inch Dunlop Screamin’ Eagle front slick tire and a 7-inch x 25-inch Dunlop Screamin’ Eagle rear slick.

Rider accommodations include a mini instrument panel, forward race-position risers and a drag handlebar, handlebar controls designed for drag racing, and include an emergency shut-off tether. Rear-set footpegs and a brake lever are positioned on the swingarm. The race seat features a high-rise back cushion. The Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer features an Electric Orange and Black paint scheme.

I'm supposed to get a call from the local dealer tomorrow from the show to tell me all the cool stuff that is going on and give me an opportunity to put my name on anything that I HAD to have that's new. I'll let ya'll know what he says the price is. That thing is the only thing I've seen thus far out of the new stuff that's REALLY cool. What i'm thinking is how cool it would be to take one and put some lights on it, take off the wheelie bar and get it registered and roll it down the boulavard   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I had a setup similar to that back in the early to mid 90s only it was a daily driver. Mine was a 86 Suzuki GS 1150 E. It was awsome! I had a guy in San Antonio Texas modify the stock bike. When it was finished it  had a conversion frame 68 in wheel base double clubfoot swingarm, lowered, raked and streched with PMFR 18 rims. I had Terry Kizer of Mr Turbo build a 30 lb boost carburated turbo system for the bike. The engine was a 1166 cc with turbo pistons, failcon crank, stock heads. Dynoed at 170 RW HP @ 12lbs of boost, capable of 250 RW HP. Terry called it a little turbo motor. The bike would run low 9s on a street tire. The bike was a handful at the track. A real menace to society on the street. Man it was fun!! That Harley looks fun too! So much for my drag racing days
