HP of 2009 CVO 110" motor - ???????
« on: July 13, 2019, 10:11:57 PM »

I apologize in advance for I'm sure this has been covered somewhere on this forum, but I just cannot find it.

One of my remaining Harley's is an '09 FLTRSE3 CVO Road Glide in Stardust Silver & Titanium, Screamin' Eagle on the fairing that I've had since 2011. There are no words for how I love this bike. I've put 55k miles on it and hope to put another 55 on it. I've been owning & riding Harley's since 1964....almost too many to count.

I know Harley hides their horsepower numbers passionately. But I and other CVO owners are discussing the actual HP of our 110" CVO motors. I can find that fact NOWHERE on the web!

Pretty sure the Torque is 115 ft.lbs., but I've seen it on the web up to 155 - pretty sure the 115 is accurate.

Can anyone here tell me the REAL and ACTUAL original HP on these 110" engines in 2009? I'm guessing 90 HP, but a friend with an '09 CVO Ultra is insisting that it is at least 100. I'm saying - no way.

TIA,

GN

The torque number Harley publishes is an estimate at the crankshaft, not the rear wheel.  The rear wheel number will be about 100.  I've never seen horsepower numbers taken at the crankshaft for any Harley, so the best you can do to get a ballpark estimate is look at before and after dyno charts to get a feel for the stock rear wheel horsepower numbers.  Once again, they will be lower than the numbers would be if you measured hp at the crankshaft.  You may be surprised at how low the stock HP numbers are at the rear wheel when you start looking at dyno charts.  I've seen a few that showed mid 70's to low 80's at the rear wheel stock. The stock 110 cams are designed for higher torque at low rpm, and pretty much fall flat on their face at anything much over 4500 rpm and thus do not produce high HP numbers.  The attachment is from Harley's Screamin' Eagle catalog and shows what they claim for rear wheel torque and horspower btw.  100 torque, 80 horsepower.

Gatornapper,

I have owned 5 of the 110 pre rushmore bikes - they have all produced 83-93 HP and 105-110 torque at the rear wheel.

That is the range all four of my 09 to 15 110 CVO bikes fell stock, closser to the lower side than the high side of these numbers.  With a Fullsac head pipe, fullsac baffles and a good tun they were about 98 hp and 115 torque.
