Title: powder coat spray?
Post by: T bone on May 26, 2008, 11:18:51 AM
Don't ask how (still fuming) but a buddy put a couple of scratches on the primary side of my CVO near the primary...does anyone know if Harley sells powder coat (for blond motor) in arosol form or touch up form? Thanks!

They do have a paint (not powdercoat) that is supposed to match both the black and the silver motor finishes.  It's availablie in both aerosol and bottle.  The part numbers for the silver are: 98600BY ($11.95) for the touch-up bottle and 98606BY ($19.60) for the aerosol.  There's a footnote next to the part number for the bottle that reads: "NOTE: Price shown is price for each bottle or pen.  There are two bottles or pens per package."

If you try it, let us know how it works -- I have a spot or two that needs touching up, as well.

Hi, I'm a member of the forum that has a powder coating business (www.readypowdercoating.com).  There is NO WAY to powder coat from a can.

Cool.  You should've seen this coming.  What'd be the cost to powdercoat a pair of lower legs, a pair of upper slider covers and all three calipers.  Assume parts come to you fully disassembled.  Would need a dark red shade.

Also, don't have anything going on now.  But do you powdercoat cylinders?  Have heard shops so how difficult and potentially damaging this can be if not done correctly.  Seems everyone recommends Sumax.  I'd agree to date Firedood before I'd send anything back to Sumax.

Gary, you know it's kind of gross that you let everyone in the parking lot handle your "special" clothes  :-* .
