Is this a 103 -> 110 "conversion" by chance? If so, who's cylinders did you go with?
Just curious b/c I've done quite a few now with S&S' conversion kit and they're solid.

PS: You could examine the back side of the valves with a bore scope or pull the manifold
and pipes. That will help eliminate the possibility of it being a leaking guide/seal. (If it's not
that, I'd suspect the cylinders)

it 's a 2010, 110 CI CVO street glide up grade, pistons cams heads ect., , got 14 k miles on it since upgrade

if it was all of a sudden,either broke ring or guide loose (guides coming loose is a fairly common problem with 110 heads),one would think it would be smoking a bit (or a lot) with either one though.one other thing you may want to look into is sumping,the oil out of the tank can be in the lower end,run it for a bit & drain the motor (not the tank,the plug on the bottom of the motor)

If the dipstick shows low (hot check), try letting the engine idle for five minutes and shut it off, then check the dipstick again.  If the oil level has increased significantly, the difference is the oil that was sitting in the sump instead of the oil pan.  A sudden increase in the amount of oil left in the sump on a Twin Cam is often caused by an oil pump scavenge side failing.

A bore scope would come in real handy when checking the other possibilities such as cylinder wall damage from a broken ring, or the intake and exhaust ports for signs of a valve guide issue.

Only a few ways the oil could be that low after 400 miles, and none of those ways are good.

Only thing that is certain is I need to get to a motorcycle drag race.

Can be an overlapped oil ring separator.

Mine is doing the same thing. Did you find the problem?

Having been down this road before and reboring along with loads of other stuff, after another 20k or so miles it's starting to use a oil again I think the last posts philosophy is a good one. With these engines we appear to be chasing rainbows.

Unfortunately, you're probably right. The further you go into the realm of performance, reliability can
be compromised when you get crazy with it. (There's a happy medium in there somewhere) Also, allot
comes down to how you treat and ride it too.

28 years with Harleys i learned one fact, the more you mess with Harleys the lower the reliability. If you want high performance your better off with a bike designed and built for performance, handling and comfort.

My humble opinion from experience.

True statement. There's only so much you can do with this type of engine design. The induction system
(if you can even call it that) is severely limited. And with only Two cylinders, the exhaust system can only
do so much.

That being said, there's still room to make them better, but there's only so much you can do with with what
we have to work with. It's still fun trying though.

Same applies to the Harley suspension. The touring line uses a old frame design. Has limitations. You can spend big money improving but it will never ride or handle like competitive bikes.

Best to accept and love your  Harley for what it is. A great looking bike that fills the needs of most riders.

lol , i was just testing ,on that margarita drink , but dyno sheet won't come threw , says its to big to post or some sh*t, tried 6 times ..... anyway had 161 hp,  ,  s/s flywheels b2 heads, all the good stuff, broke the belt , had to put chain on, d/d pipe, woods gear drive,   70 mm throttle body,   tts master tuner

Sounds like a beast.

I always seem to have problems getting pictures on here too, so don't feel bad. (I was in the IT field for many years
so it shouldn't be all that difficult, but I still struggle with it)
