I purchased the lifetime maps update a few years ago for my 550, does anyone know if it can be transferred to another 550?

According to Garmin it is not transferable.  Went I got a replacement unit from Garmin I was able to add the new serial numbered unit to my account.

On my 660 I also purchased the lifetime map updates and had the unit replaced under warranty.  I do remember talking to them about this and they said that the lifetime map update subscription would be transferred and was to the replacement unit.

If it was a factory replacement for the original 550 (that had the LM's) then you should be able to contact Garmin CS and have it transferred... if it is a 550 that you purchased to replace original 550 then it probably will not be transferable.
