"Enter PIN"

Good morning all...I'll start this by calling myself a PIN-Head! So, when I bought my CVO in 2015...its been a great ride since my purchase. Well, I haven't rode anywhere for the last couple of weeks, due to work traveling. So yesterday, I decided to take the bike out...I noticed a message saying "Enter Pin"...Never seen this before. Anyway, I went to the manual, how to change the PIN...well, you need a PIN, to change the PIN...this is where "PIN-Head" comes into play. I never registered the original PIN#. I bought the bike used, and the original owner never listed the PIN as well.
So, how do I get this resetted?  :nervous:

Any help, is appreciated.

Law abiding biker is a easy explanation of the process. The only statement he misses on is he says the factory sets the pin to is 13131, and that is correct, however many dealerships change that pin at set up. My dealer re sets the pin to 11111. I would try a couple of the more common combos.

If you have your fob handy, you can set your own pin pretty easy. You don't need the old one to do it.

If you had your key fob with you when you where trying to start your bike, I'm wondering why it said "enter pin" ? You may want to replace your key fob battery as well and then change your pin, just follow the instructions in your manual.

You were right...new battery started the bike right away...Thanks man!

Thanks everyone for their recommendations...turns out my battery's needed changing in the FOBS. :mango:  I also changed my PIN, for future mishaps!

This may sound silly, but since the batteries are fairly cheap, I always keep two in my tour pack. This way, if the battery dies in the remote, and I'm out in the middle of nowhere and I don't feel like messing with the PIN, I just change them out. If I don't use my spare batteries in a couple of years, I simply toss them and buy two more. Plus, I always have an extra in case either my wife or a buddy has their remote battery die.

I keep a spare remote battery on every bike I own.  They get used, and its cheep insurance
