Oh, yeah!  $8 15w soldering iron and super-skinny solder from RS.  Worth every penny!

What other uses would you have besides a MP3 player or GPS unit to utlize the input jack?

Question - have not hooked up my Garmin 2720 on my new '07 yet, but on my '06 when I ran the cable to the radio aux I found that every time I turned the ignition on the radio powered up with the aux input selected even though it was on a different input source when the ignition was turned off.  Since I seldom want to listen to the gps this was a glorified aggravation.  Just wonder if this is normal on all the radios or just the '06 and up or just the one I had.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Got my aux. jack mod. done today and thought I'd post a few pics.  I tapped into the connection from the front jack by soldering directly to the pins in the connector itself.

I ran the wires to the panel jack and soldered them to the appropriate terminals, then drilled a 1/4" hole in the back of the unit for the panel jack to fit into.

I installed the panel jack immediately below where the antennae jack is.

View of the dash with the aux input selected and the MP3 player happily playing through the "aux-jack-in-the-back."  No more wires going into the front of the radio! [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Thanks again, Jim, for all the help!!! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Nice job, Brian...I want to do this to mine, but would like to see a schematic for the radio first, or maybe Jim will help us out by doing an 06 radio... ;)

hard10, you're welcome, but keep in mind this is the '04/'05 SEEG radio manufactured by Radio Sound.  The '06 & up Harmon Kardon unit will be different and no one here has done of those yet, at least not to my knowledge.  (Hint, hint: Terry, send your radio to Jim! ;) )

On your earlier question about what other uses besides MP3 or GPS, I guess those two are about it, but if you run a permanent hookup for either of those accessories, it is nice to have the wiring hidden behind the fairing. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
