anti-ride report
« on: January 15, 2007, 06:06:50 PM »

This would have to be the anti-ride report.  Don't get me wrong, I feel for everyone that had the heavy snows in Colorado and the weather in tne NW.  And he heavy snow will certainly stop everything.  But I like ice storms even less.

Get out in it just because you're too stubborn and too dumb to stay inside.  But when you could stand in your yard, pass gas, and have Einstein's "equal and opposite" law travel account for you getting to the neighbor's house without taking a step you know it's just messy.  Had 2 days of this stuff falling.  No snow.  Just freezing rain and ice pellets that hurt when they hit you on the head.

Even when it breaks for a bit it looks dark and dreary.

Late this afternoon started to see some clearing though.  Things begin to brighten up some.

Then it finally broke to clear and bright for a bit. The same things that had looked tired and weather beaten were bright again as they should be.

Don, I was going to ask you if you got hit with that stuff, we have been hearing that it was in KS and MO.

Looks like hell after it froze.

Portland Oregon gets more of that than we do but I have had the experience and it is no fun.  Raises heck with everything and is murder on the trees and power lines.

Hope you warm up soon, us too. although today is warm relative to the last few.

Broken trees all over the place.  Many still without power but that's getting sorted out.  Some will lose it again as trees that didn't break raise back up as they lose their ice.  I wasn't as bad here as some.  From what we've heard here down around where Scooterhair is got it a bit worse.  But 2" of solid ice on many surfaces is bad enough.

Hey Don, those pictures are beautiful to look at but we have been on the receiving end of them in Memphis and it wasn't pretty! I remember power was out in house and everything was quiet until you heard a boom from another transformer blowing. It was crazy! We were lucky and only went 4 days without electricity. 1st couple of days not so bad, family sleeping around fireplace, living on candle lites. But it got old quick! Spoiled little beings we are, no matter how many times I went to the bath room I would flip the light switch on....duhhh! ;D
