Retirement Gift Harley related
« on: March 18, 2016, 11:08:02 AM »

Hello
A co-worker of mine is retiring I would like to buy a gift for him in the $25 - 50 range.
Who has received something cool in this range?
I would like to either buy at the Harley Dealer or Amazon.  I have searched Amazon but the results I was getting were poor, maybe I need to search a different way.
Years back I bought a a cool wall hanging key holder for a wedding gift.

OK here goes:

o Get a really cool picture of him with his bike
o Go here and make a glass picture https://www.shutterfly.com/photo-gifts/for-the-home/glass-prints
o Add a saying like this:  Retirement only means that it is time for a new adventure.

How about a bottle opener and a couple beer glasses from the H-D dealer, I have 1 opener that hangs on the wall and 1 with a magnet the hangs on the side of the fridge.

At the 2014 Maggie Valley Gtg I got lucky and won a Harley coffee mug [thanks Mikey tee and all involved], I think about where that one came from every time I use it, its my weekend morning mug I wont risk breaking it on my way to work in my truck.
Its got function and means so much more to me than a company coffee mug from a business.

All good ideas.  Go to a dealer and walk around.  I bet you end up having to choose from several different items that would work just fine.

I suggest giving a Guardian Bell, I give one every time a friend buys a new bike. Google it....there are many places to purchase well within the price you mentioned.  Your friend will think of you every time he rides.

You may have noticed that most Harley-Davidson’s have a small bell hanging from bottom of the frame. No it doesn’t mean that rider is a fairy. The reason they have the bell is because of the Legend of the Bell. Read the story below.

THE LEGEND OF THE BELL*

As we all know, life has many mysteries that have no apparent solutions. One of these is Evil Road Spirits. They are little gremlins that live on your bike. They love to ride. They're also responsiblefor most of your bike's problems. Sometimes your turn signals refuse to work, or the battery goes dead.

Road Spirits can't live in the presence of a bell. They get trapped in the hallow of the bell. Among other things, their hearing is supersensitive. The constant ring of the bell and the confined space drives them insane. They lose their grip and eventually fall to the roadway. (Have you ever wondered how potholes are formed?) The bell has served its purpose.

If you have picked up a bell of your own, the magic will work. But if your bell was given to you, the power has been doubled, and you know that somewhere you have a special friend helping to look after you.

So, if you have a friend that doesn't have a bell, why not be the person to give them one? It's a nice feeling for the recipient to know you personally cared. The, plus a good preventive maintenance program by the bike's owner, will help eliminate the Evil Road Spirits.

Harley steak knives with a storage block. Had mine for about 4 years...no issues. Saw a set in one of the dealers on the mainland a couple weeks ago....so, they're still available.

My office gave me a dealership gift card when I left. Unforunately it was at a full retail dealer and I had 15% off at another dealer. After some discussion with the gift card dealer we came up with an accessory I wanted that they were willing to give a 10% discount on.  A better gift would be something that could be used at any online or discount dealer.

No one in my family will ever give someone a knife. They say it will cut your friendship. So we charge the person who receives it a nickel. I know, stupid superstition.

When I retired my coworkers gave me a HD Gift Card. I bought the large HD Luggage Rack travel bag and we have used it several times. I always liked the fact that I got to pick the gift and pick something we actually used.
