Adding googies to my 2008 CVO Springer
« on: March 12, 2016, 07:28:20 PM »

I'm looking for feed back on forward controls. A nice touring style seat 200 mile a day comfort. Lastly a sissy bay. What has anyone used and liked or disliked? Thanks in advance for any and all input

I used Arlen Ness forward control extenders and had them chromed. I have a Danny Grey Weekender XL and have used it for 400 mile days. For a sissy bar I have the same HD Quick release sissy bar that is used on breakouts and it's been great.

For price and ease of purchase , the stock OEM FXSTC Softail Custom seat can't be beat ! Ran 2007 to 2010 inclusive

Without a doubt the most comfy STOCK seat in the HD range

Remember you need the stock sissy bar ( or an accessory 'Twisted" sissy bar ) for the seat to fit.

This stock seat fits any 200 rear Softail with the bobtail rear fender.

Just last month I put a 2008 Anniversary FXSTC black and Gold seat and a 'Twisted" sissy bar onto a good mate's 2008 Anniversary Springer.

Looks like it shoulda been there from new !

Yes, those are the ones I bought. Just noticed you have an 08 so the sissybar and seat I recommended won't work as mine is an 09. I did use a Corbin gunfighter on my 07 Fatboy for longer rides, like Phoenix to Vegas and it was great and would fit your bike. My buddy who has an 07 CVO Springer used the twisted sissybar as mention above.

Thank you for the help I ores the Ness extensions today still looking at seats. Hard to shell out big dough with out being able to try it first. Stopped at local HD dealer today to ask about demo seats. They have a bunch but nothing for my bike

2007 to 2010 stock Softail Custom FXSTC seats can be bought on US ebay easily.

So can the twisted sissy bars , I bought 2 a couple years ago from an HD dealer in Milwaukee , they had plenty at the time.

Stock seats are an easy pickup , second hand but often  "brand new bike take-off"

What seat did you go for in the endup ?

Hopefully you found it at a good price ?

I keep my CVO seat on around town , looks sleeker and nicer , but put the FXSTC seat and sissy bar for longer trips up or down the coast

( Australia is a BIG place , roughly the same as the continental US but "only" 21 million folks in the whole place !)

I put factory floorboards off a heritage on my 08 cvo springer, it made it very comfortable you can order the chrome brackets right out of the catalog and buy the related parts off eBay, I painted mine to match the frame and was a major hassle getting the anniversary paint.

Yes , the new seat is "Fugly" ( that may be a quaint Australianism sorry ) but functional

Be sure to keep the stock CVO seat as they are "made of unobtanium"

An easy 5 minute job to change either way.

How do you like the "Sons of Anarchy" Thunderheader exhaust ?

I don't care for the look but it sounds great seems to preform well I have Vance and Hines big radius two into two and the stocker as well. Also a nice solo seat. The back rest will be nice on 200 + mile days and I can't see it while riding lol

Another polite Australianism

" Yer arse has no eyes" haha ( that's Aussie for "Ass" !)

Here in Australia 2 into 1 exhausts seem to be more on Dynas
