Floor Boards
« on: February 20, 2012, 11:18:47 PM »

Is it me or do these floorboards seem smaller than usual ... my foot never feels like it is ever really on the floor boards and I wear an 11 boot. Who can recommend a part that moves them out further or a new set altogether?

I put on the Kuryakyn extenders moves them 1" out and 1" forward clears the lowers by 1/8" and makes a huge difference in comfort and a much more stable sitting position

Would you by chance have a part number? also, does this help you with the clearance on the shifter? In other words, can you get your toe under the shifter with boots on?

You can raise or lower the shifter peg height, just remove the screw where the shifter pivots and adjust.  Works for big and small feet :)

PJ,

There are many places to get floor board extensions and many riders seem to be happy with them.  I see that you are in Texas and no doubt have lots of wide open spaces to ride.  Out here in CA we love to ride the mountains and the "twisties."  If you do any of that type of riding, you might want to ride this thread before going with any type of floor board extension:  Floorboard extentions being removed.

Personally, I would at least consider modifying the seat before doing anything that would reduce the lean angle of my bikes.  It might cost more to do but consider the long term savings.  Just sayin'.  Good luck either way!

Excellent advice. I would have never thought of that. I do live in Texas, but have ridden to Sturgis for 10 straight years so often I do hit the "twisties" as you say ... Needles Highway comes to mind immediately in the Black hills National Forest. I think at this point I will stay with OEM.
