Crooked Faring
« on: October 19, 2014, 08:16:17 PM »

My friends and I bought three Road Glides and two out of the three have the new style farings mounted cock eyed, tilted to the left when driving straight. The third bike is likely the same way he just has not noticed it. When the bike is headed dead straight look at the space between the top of the speedo and tach and the bottom of the infotainment cluster and also look at the gap where the inner faring meets the outer fairing. Not being picky but it's horrible. One bike is at the dealer as we speak so I'll give an update.

Just playing devil's advocate for a moment:   How picky or how horrible?  How many degrees crooked?   Are you sure the roads on which you're making these observations are absolutely flat,  level and straight?  Most roads are crowned slightly for drainage purposes.  That makes your front tire off slightly to the right to track straight.  Could that be the issue?

you made me go out and stand my bike up mine lines up straight.   just standing it up in the garage though haven't noticed it riding.   In a cross wind if your riding it may tilt to one side or another because its fixed and your bars are slightly turned i don't know just a thought

I looked at mine and in fact it is ever so sightly crooked.  I mean very slight.  I don't this I would have ever noticed it if it wasn't for this thread.  For me, certainly not an issue.

We noticed it on a 500 mile trip to the beach this weekend and we traveled interstates, 4 lanes, 2 lanes and county roads and I noticed it on most of the roads. I think the crown of the road theory on a motorcycle would result in more of a lean than on a car where you would actually turn both frt wheels to counter the crown. We have been on Talladeaga speedway on charity rides where the straight a ways are 10 to maybe 15 degrees or more and your not turning the handle bars. This is hard to duplicate in a wheel chock because you don't know if the rear wheel is exactly tracking where it is when it's actually going down the road. Believe me I wish my buddy hadn't pointed it out because I noticed it the whole dang ride and it's there. Hard to photo going down the road but looks like 1/4 inch plus difference in the gap of speedo/tach and bottom straight line under the infotainment. Will try to demonstrate on my lift just to clarify. Thanks

This is only to show you what we are talking about, it's no quite this bad but too late in in my head. But I hate a crooked steering wheel.

But the good news guys is this was my first ride on this new bike with my new solo Corbin heated seat, Corbin backrest and solo tour pac setup and this bike is a traveler. Even with the Fullsac DX, Fullsac baffles and the Corbin set up I've got less in this HD getting it comfortable than previous bikes mostly because my 09 CVO RG had no tour pac or lower fairings. I think it's a keeper.
