Unable to stop Inner primary bearing seal from leaking.

Hi all,
My 07 CVO Road king has had the Baker high performance inner primary sealed bearing kit for about 6/7 years, but in the last 2 years have been unable to stop the seal from leaking, the latest attempt with new seal etc lasted for about 250 miles then has started leaking again, Have used several different makes of seal without success, any one know of any type of device that will catch the oil or any thing that might help manage the leak, have given up trying to stop it now (Costing me a fortune, gaskets, inner primary bolts etc). Thanks.

Likely not your problem but, just in case...

Is there any chance you're using the stock seal as your replacement?  With the Baker bearing kit you're eliminating the race so the seal with that kit has a smaller ID.

If you’re using the Baker primary shaft seal did you check orientation? The ribbed side goes towards the inside of the primary, the flat side goes to the outside, facing the trans.
Is your shaft smooth and clean? No nicks, burrs or anything like that?
Check the Baker website, they have some instructions listed there I think.
I do remember my shaft not using the stock pressed on sleeve. I’ll check my install sheets when I get back home.

Hi guys, thanks for the comments, I am using the correct seal, have tried 4 differing makes, some a lot more exspensive than the one from  baker, without success, shaft appears smooth and polished, checked it for run out and its well within spec. Not sure where else to go wtih this, may just have to live with it.

Something has changed over the last 6-7 years if it was fine before. Any work done to the bike before this issue?
Are you sure it’s the primary? Maybe the shifter shaft seal? Or main drive seal?
Only other thing I can think of is positive pressure in the primary? The primary is vented through to the transmission to atmosphere so there should be no pressure in the primary or transmission.
Curious. :nixweiss:
