Unable to stop Inner primary bearing seal from leaking.

<< < (2/2)

trippy:
My transmission was rebuilt 6 years ago when I installed the Baker reverse gear kit, so cassette removed and rebuilt with their secondary shaft and shifter drum, all new bearings and seals, all checked for run out etc, all fine, Reverse works fine, so cannot figure out why this keeps happening.

trippy:
Did think about pressure build up in the transmission so fitted the Fueling vented dip stick, but am sure its primary oil as I use differeant oils in all 3 holes.

HOGMIKE:
Don’t think the fueling dipstick will have any affect on the primary. Your transmission already has a vent.
Issue sounds like just a bad seal.

I assume you run the baker sealed bearing on the inner primary with the 25-52-7 oil seal? I believe it’s a double lip. Smooth side facing the transmission.
Check the bearing.
Check again the shaft where the seal rides and it should be a tight fit and smooth.
If that’s where it’s leaking there may be a bad spot on the shaft or on the inner primary with the 25mm or 52mm hole.

Be careful sliding the primary back on over the splines. The splines are a smaller diameter than the race area of the shaft.
