Performance upgrades for the 2005 103? Just cams or ???
Sundog1258:
Wondering what to do to wake up this 103. I bought it with a set of rinehart duals, se air kit and a pciii that has supposedly been dyno tuned. (Previous owner didn't have a printout of the tune, but it runs smooth with no decel pops or other problems, I've never put it on a dyno personally.)
I was wondering what you folks that have had the cams changed in these early 103' did to yours and if you had it to do over---
Would you do it again?
I've looked at all the dyno sheets I could find on here, but what I really would like to know is how much "bang for the buck" you guys got for what you did.
It looks like Redshift and Yuill Bros make cams specific for this motor. I've read where some said the Redshift cams were noisy, are the yuill's also noisy?
If I just replace the cams with one of the above and re-tune that's probably the most cost effective route for a hp/tq bump.
Or go ahead and have the heads worked and use another cam?
Just looking on a little imput on what some of you have done, and would you do it again. ( if not what would you change)
The Rineharts are staying, they're paid for and I like them.
Thanks

I would deck the heads .040-.050, put in a S&S 570 cam with ez starts and do a .030 headgasket and little bit of headwork. Sach's
on this site does a lot of these builds and would be a good guy to contact. CVOSTU has this build as quite a few of my buddies and they run great. I think Stu's numbers are like 119 torque and 116 hp.
At 10:1 compression hard to beat.

Just had the zippers 575's delaminate in an 05SEEG after 35k
Had Sachs do just what Unballanced said above. Runs sweet
Cvostu:
can't beat this set up... be nice to John he is da best!!! :2vrolijk_21:

I 'm kinda interested in this query also. I bought an 05 SEEG about 7 months ago. It was all stock with 10K miles on it. Did a Fuel Moto tune with a PV and FM's Jackpot mufflers and an AN big sucker. Really pleased with the performance boost but I know I'm gonna have to do the tensioners in another 10K. Don't know if I should change the cams when I do the tensioners or not. It's my understanding these things came stock with SE-253 cams. Read a lot of the older posts on here but I too am interested in what has worked best over time.
