2009 CVO Springer 6th gear indicator light not working

(1/1)

cahdbiker:
Hi Fellas and possibly some Chicks, wondering if anyone has had the issue of 6th gear indicator. My 09 CVO has only about 7800 miles on it. It is the Cobalt blue color. Everything is great except for that 6th gear indicator. I am planning on replacing the indicator lights if they are still available. Just found out that indicator lights are not available and you have to buy the entire speedometer as a sealed unit. That costs $236 dollars. Since the dealer wants around $250 just to analyze any problem I will probably just buy the speedo eventually. However wondering if it could be anything else. I need any set of CVO mirrors for this same bike. Thanks CAHDBIKER

See if you can borrow a speedo from a "normal" Softail, they usually do 3 model years, 08/09/10 kinda thing.

I have swapped regular non CVO speedos ( showing Km/H) into many US domestic CVO Softails arriving here in Australia with MPH speedos.

They plug straight in and work, gets me past government testing requirements. More often than not the original CVO MPH unit goes back in thereafter.

A borrowed speedo will show you if the 6th gear light is working, if not then the fault may be in the wiring.

I should also add, that at one stage the 6th gear indicator light would play up on a stage 1 reflash to the ECM.

TTS at the time had a fix for that.

Start simple tho', try a second hannd used/borrowed speedo unit.
