Anyone know how to remove the Air Valve???

Tired of constantly having to check (and top off) the air pressure in our stock CVO air shocks. Heard good things about the HD Premium Ride Hand-Adjustable Touring Shocks and made the switch. Weather's not cooperating for a proper test, but short ride was "mo bettah" firm feeing :2vrolijk_21:! As usual, MOCO's instructions (dated 2012) leave something to be desired: "....remove screw from air valve bracket assembly and remove assembly" ??? HAH .........the only screw on my bike holds the passenger grab strap!!!! The air valve is mounted in a rather large rear fender bracket. I can remove the nut holding the air valve in place ........but there doesn't appear to be enough space to pull the air valve out without messing with the massive rear fender bracket assembly. Others have made this upgrade ...........advice please ::)?

Leave it on there. Put the stock shocks on it when you trade it in. That's what I'm doing with mine. My Ohlins will go to my next bike.

Trig, I left mine in place, too.  I did remove the tubing that fed each shock, however.  I do not plan to reinstall the air shocks for myself or if I ever sell.

Exactly what I did.  Now the Ohlins are going on the CVO King.

Thanks OBB ......an excellent plan for the inevitable M8 in your future :2vrolijk_21:. However this is quite likely my last bike as (a Facebook well-wisher "framed" my recent birthday) I've "just entered the 4th Quarter" of my life ........ but hoping to make it to "overtime" LOL ;D. Thus I thought I'd try selling the 54000036 Air Shocks as a complete set ......i.e. with air valve :nixweiss:.

I reckon there's no way to get that valve out Haird ......at least without partially removing that large saddlebag/fender support bracket which also connects to the Tourpak support ??? At this point in my life I'm keeping this bike. Loving it more with recent project of quieting the valve train to "almost M8 standard" using S&S Premium lifters and Rockouts ;D

I also replaced the front suspension with the HD Premium Ride on my 1015 CVO Road Glide. A great add on, makes for a very good ride.
I would have thought paying the money for a CVO, the premium ride shocks front and rear would be standard equipment.
I left my valves on the bike in case I trade sometime down the road, but for now, like you this maybe my last bike.

I was successful in removing the valve from my '15 Limited CVO without any major disassembly but I don't remember exactly how I accomplished it.  I change to the Premium Shocks several months ago and am glad that I did, a much better ride for us.  I believe that I had to remove the saddlebag fastener receptacle on the mount and that added enough space to remove the valve from the bottom of the mount but as I said before, I'm not 100% sure that is the way I did it.  It can be done so don't give up yet.  As far as reinstalling on the bike, I plan to leave the Premium's on the bike if and when I trade again as I'm sure that the new bike will have the Premium's installed from the factory.  Good Luck !!!!!

Trig, that was my evaluation, too.  There really isn't a good way to get the valve out of there.  I'm fairly good at taking things apart (  ;D ) but this one was going to cause more issues in removal than just keeping it in place.

Looks like you could take the nut off and pull the valve stem out from the bottom.

That's what I thought as well guppytrash ......but apparently there's not enough space between the bracket and fender for the valve to slip out.

I think you've got something there Gfs3. Anyone know how to remove that clip?

push clip in with a screwdriver and wiggle it loose at the bottom and just pull it down it will come off with no problem

Sometimes the simplest thing.....clip out, valve removed, clip back....took all of 5 minutes.  Took longer removing and replacing the saddlebag.  Thank you sir... :2vrolijk_21:
