M8 SE Stage IV 114 to 117 Kit
« on: January 19, 2017, 12:52:43 PM »

I have seen some information on another sit on the M8 Stage IV 107/114 & 114"/117 but no pictures of the CNC Heads or the rest of the Kit ? Just of the new header pipe w/o Cat and Street Cannon mufflers with cat in them to keep them EPA legal?

Stock  TB yet?  I heard there is a 64mm for the kit .

What happens if you use the new header and use the cannons that have no cat???

You would have voided your warranty.  The warranty remains in force as long as you use only the parts that comprise the legal kit that has been certified to meet emission standards.  Substitute anything else and the result is an illegal modification that voids the warranty.

Of course this begs the question of why Harley decided to move the cat from the header to the mufflers.  My guess is they know it's easier and cheaper for customers to swap mufflers later on versus changing out the headpipe assembly, and they are still playing that wink-wink game they always played in the past by labeling kits and parts Off Road Only, knowing full well 90 plus percent of those kits and parts were used on the street.

I'm thinking the Stage 4 117 kit, woods cam, and a fuel Moto exhaust will be a winner. Yeah, you lose the warranty, but, so far, this has been the longest I've kept a warranty intact.

Ordered mine this afternoon. Dealer says 15 day lead time on the kit. The dyno chart on the literature shows 125H.P @ 6 grand and looks like torque peaks at only 115 at 5 grand. Torque curve takes a 5 lb/ft hit from stock  till 3500 rpm. Says these numbers are with the high flow exhaust and the stock ventilator air cleaner.

Seems like it's designed for the hp. number chasers. ;)
That's a lot of cash outlay for so little torque & so far to the right! ::)

My thoughts exactly.  I could see installing this kit on a lighter and "sportier" bike like a Dyna or Softail perhaps, but if someone bought a Harley Touring model to do some actual touring style riding, low end torque is much more important than top end power.  But there again, I've seen a lot of guys buy something like a Street Glide, hop it up, and use it like a bar hopper instead of a touring bike.  To each his own, I just hope anyone buying this kit knows up front what he's getting.

I do not like the fact it moves the torque to the right.  I like my torque to come on early and to be in the RPM area I ride most the time.

Dave, obviously I don't have a dyno sheet but using my "butt dyno" I did not feel like I lost any torque down low when I did the 117 kit, quite the opposite really! I did think most of the improvement was after 3500 RPM but also feels to me like there was a considerable improvement across the entire band. I have seen the posts that show the 117 kit does not effect the numbers much and not worth the money but I completely disagree with that and would do it again in a heartbeat if I got a new bike.
Just my humble opinion of course, Im sure many will disagree..

I was referring to the new kit, with heads.  It's geared for HP, and move the torque right.  The kit you did, does not have the new CNC heads.  It does not shift the torque near as much to the right.

Correct I have seen some of the dyno runs with that cam.  Another nice one is the woods 222.

From the MoCO site

This Stage IV Kit was developed to deliver maximum horsepower from the Milwaukee-Eight® engine - all the way to the redline. The system-matched combination of larger displacement cylinders, free flowing CNC-Ported cylinder heads and a cam with the highest available valve lift are the starting point to building the perfect engine for the performance junkie. The addition of the large 64mm bore throttle body and high-flow injectors provides great acceleration from first gear through sixth and exceptional response at the twist of the throttle. Designed for a high level of flexibility, this package is ideal for riders who want stump pulling torque throughout the rpm range and also crave plenty of arm-pulling acceleration when you whack the throttle. Kit includes CNC Ported Cylinder Heads with Performance Valve Springs, 64mm Throttle Body, High Flow Injectors (5.5g/s), 4.075" Bolt-On Cylinders, Forged 11:1 High Compression Aluminum Coated Pistons and Rings, SE8-515 Cam, Cam Bearing Upgrade, High Performance Tappets, Multi-layer Coated Head Gaskets, Top End, Cylinder Base and Cam Cover Gaskets, High Capacity Clutch Springs and Plates.

    Black granite highlighted
Increases power by up to 40% when compared to the Original Equipment engine configurations
Provides thrilling acceleration when twisting the throttle
Delivers increased response throughout the entire RPM range
Maintains flat torque curve from cruising RPM to redline
Can be installed without removing the engine from the chassis
    Retains Original Equipment Factory Warranty
    50-State U.S. EPA compliant
