2017 CVO exhaust for Street Glide question
« on: January 20, 2017, 03:11:38 PM »

Is the 2017 CVO exhaust (Street Glide) an enhanced system over a stock Street Glide?  Is there a significant benefit to doing a stage 1 upgrade on the CVO and is the current equipment on the bike everything you need or would a new exhaust and air intake be required?  It doesnt sound like slip ons add much to hp and torque but maybe I am wrong?

I scrapped the stock pipes (and air intake) when I did a stage 1 on a fat boy mostly because I didn't like the look and sound of the exhaust.  It did very little for me on the Dyno.

The exhaust on the 2017 CVO looks fine- do I need to scrap it to get the max performance out of the bike ?  I know I need to get a proper tune regardless of the route I take.

Thanks in advance for the coaching!

CVO mufflers have always been higher flow and sound level compared to standard models.  The difference isn't huge, but there is a difference.  The CVO air cleaner is also higher flow than a standard model, and doesn't need to be changed until you start making some serious mods to the rest of the engine.  If you like the look of the stock mufflers but want a bit more sound, Fullsac makes replacement cores (baffles) for the stock mufflers.  Those have been a very popular item around here for a long time now.  They also offer a package that includes a TTS Master Tune and a copy of the dyno tune they developed for your bike with their exhaust changes.  Many report the tune is so good they don't feel a need to get a custom tune.  There are a lot of threads around here on this subject, and you can also go to their website for details if interested.

Just a very quick question..... the CVO SE cans on my 2017 look lore restricted that any pipe I've seen that's a performance pipe including the SE puppies for sale after market. Am I wrong or aren't the CVO pipes just fancy stock?

basically, yes.  they are designed to flow for the 110 engine, and to fall within the epa regs.  that's why many people will replace the stock baffles with the fullsac baffles.  stock look, aftermarket performance, without blowing your eardrums.

The 17 CVO mufflers are different baffles than the ones used in the past models.  The 17 is a perforated baffle that also runs straight though on like years past.  It is 1 1/2 all the way though.  The older CVO's the baffle was not straight through.
