Rock Chips
« on: January 11, 2011, 04:55:46 PM »

Hi,

I saw a posting a while ago about 3M type film that is pre-cut for the leg fairing, front fairing and other parts.  I have a guy here at the store that puts 3M products on the front of our cars.  He said that if the company uses a cheap film, it could possibly remove the finish on the paint, or the paint itself!  1st question is if anyone has the website, i would like him to look at it and see what he can tell me and if he would acutally install it so its right, 2nd question, is did anyone have a bad experience?  Hopefully no one had to remove it to find out?

Try searching the forum for "Motorcycle Armor"... I believe that's what you are going to be looking for.

Semperfi81 has it on his 2010.5 Black Bike.  Maybe he will chime in.  It looked good on the blcak, you had to look for it to tell it was there

Fire00d, the only thing that came up for Motorcyle Armor is your reply on this post.  semperfi81....do you have a URL or website for this product?  I have someone to put it on for me that does it for a living.  I would like to put it on my lower fairings and front and bottom portion of my saddle bags.

I bought a roll of it cuz it was cheaper. I wanted to do the top of my saddle bags cuz the wife likes to unzip her hoody and the zipper bangs away on the lid. They wanted the same amount to do the lids as the roll cost me.

Like everything practice makes perfect. I was afraid to even try this but it was not that bad after all. You can't even see the film. You just about have to feel it to see it. It also will make fine scratches diappear.

I made a couple of paper templates and cut them out of the film. There are a few tips though that would be valuable to you if you try it yourself.

I want to do other spots on the bike so in the spring I will do more. If you can find someone who has done it and has the paper that peels away from the film.....ask them for them they will make great templates.

It is awesome chit...

If you searched the way you've spelled it (see underlined above) may be the reason for not getting anything... when I searched I got two pages. :nixweiss:

Check out this guy on e-bay. He has individual kits and complete kits. Just look in his store for the other kits
