WOW, glad I caught this thread, now down to 25 since 7:26 pm tonight.

I have belly laughed more today than many with some of your jibes and banter (especially with d00d) and always appreciate the technical contributions too.  Your efforts toward the group and extra things you do are much appreciated and I look forward to being here when you are posting (always).

Congrats and good luck on the next 10k [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

10,000 posts. What a lot to say and the best part for all of us is that the vast majority of them have been insightful, instructional, informational and humorous. Not to say you haven't gone astray on occasion,  :D but you know Don, this site would be so much poorer for not having ever had you as a member.

You know, this sudden silence from Don reminds me of another gentleman on this site.  Got to 999 and went quiet for awhile, turns out he was saving number 1000 for a special occassion.  Number 1000 turned out to be a proposal to another member, and it was a very memorable post indeed (very nicely done Chip!).  I figure Don is waiting to hit us with a bombshell announcement; just haven't figured out what it will be.  I could go with the cheap jokes, like matching chrome thongs for he and the 'd00d at Maggie Valley, but I've got to believe it will be much more important than that.  So as they say on TV, "Stay tuned.......".

Ok, the countdown hits 0.  Just got home from a nice evening out.  Was supposed to get some work done this evening but bagged that for a better offer.  So saw a good friend.  Had some good wine and good food.  Enjoyed a little lust.  All in all a very commendable Friday evening.  But before toddling off for the rest of the evening thought it appropriate to say thanks here once again also.

Unlike what I assume to be the case with many of the population here I don't have experience with other online populations in fora like this.  So this crowd is the touchstone I measure the experience from.  For that reason I can't imagine much interest in other such fora as the group of people here is truly commendable.  Other must pale in comparison.

Whether it be the general level of intelligence shared, the degrees of self assuredness that allow people to so comfortably just be themselves and roll with the humor and good times so often shared or the shared interests in the bikes themselves this place just works.  And by "place" I obviously mean this group of people.

Certainly when a group this large comes together there will be the occasional clinker, the loose cannon on the rolling deck without the self surety or security to effectively play well with others.  But unlike any other large group of people those numbers here have always been so appreciatively and commendably small.  So rather than any thanks to me for copious typing the thanks actually go the other way for being a group both bright enough and fun enough to talk to.

My friends, it is appreciated.

10.000 anythings is a lot.  10,000 posts on a website is obviously over the top a lot. Look at how far anyone else is to you.  And all of them, well almost all of them, have been helpful, friendly, funny, insightful, friendly, diverse, and whole lotta other very nice things.  I consider you a friend, and to think we met over a silly website, I find that amazing. I have talked to you over the phone, over the internet.  Been part of a love affair with a lady, with a bike.  Wow, what a wonderful place. And think, this all takes place in Naitram's living room.  Well, now I am feeling I outa put some clothes on.  What with everyone able to see me, and in another person's home too.  Anyway, congratulations at arriving at such an ilustrious place.  I am so proud I know you and have had many exchanges with you on your way to this 10,000 locale.  And hope for many more................. ;)

WOW!!! You want to hear some scary chit..... Last night while you were gone I had the notion to give you a call to see what you were planning for your 10k post. Noticed your countdown and begin to wonder was the countdown for the post or was something else up. ;) As I was listening to the voices in my head (as twin brotha's from different mothers sometime do ;D) they started telling me.... "Maybe he's out for the evening. The countdown may be because he's going to get lucky. It wouldn't be nice/proper to ring his phone during such an intimate time."

Now I come on this morning and in fact find out you were having a good time. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

That's too funny Gary.  I guess you share enough thoughts and insights it's not unexpected you begin to pick up on people's habits is it.  I remember a conversation I had with 103 a long time ago when we were both moderators.  The site had been real busy for a few days but this particular evening all the sudden it was just dead.  Real quick without even having to think about Brian says "the site is slow on Thursdays" and just as quickly reeled off where a couple of the cadre that were then active headed out to on Thursday evenings.  It's fun to realize just how much of the habit of true person to person friendships are picked up here by this digital group of people.  I doubt that's the same for most such groups as this.

So, Mike and Mark and Jamey and Candy and Gary and Brians et.al. and those gettin old and those riding fast again and those from here and those from abroad and almost everyone else around; thank you all again for producing such an interesting and enjoyable little playground as has been created here.  Next to girls and bikes this place rates  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .

Oh crap, took the keyboard in for the 10K Post service and the dealership had brand new chrome keycaps available.  Then I thought "well, while the keycaps are off for service maybe that stealth chrome keycap post kit" would be a good idea too?  Then they said the wireless link from the keyboard was weak and ought to be fixed while it was up on the lift.  Got the oil changed also and before you know the dealership had run up a simple little service to a 985 dollar keyboard repair.  Gotta love Harley shops !!   ;D

I gots to pay more attention to the left half of the screen !  That is sweet.  Site name color coordinated with the bike !  Who could want any more than that  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] ?

Yeah, I think I'm gonna spend the rest of the day deleting about 4,500 of my posts so that my name will once again match my bike.

On second thought, the SRT-10 is sitting in the garage begging to be taken for a spin right now, so see you guys later! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Don, you mean while we were all sitting here on pins and needles, waiting for that 'special' 10k post, you were wining, dining and lusting? How rude!  I could have been lusting myself.

And, thanks again for the special things you do  [smiley=wink2.gif] [smiley=wink2.gif]

Ed, the only problem with detailing the keyboard while it's still in service for riding to the site here is that stuff occasionally gets spewed on it.  Just such a bother.....

Not sure where your  $$$$ figure comes from.  Regardless, you are right, it's cheap and effective, especially regarding certain versions of the Exocet. Almost impossible to defeat other than shooting down the plane that carries it before launch. The only problem I have is that the French Gov't will sell to anyone and do not discriminate, which they should. The are people out there who should not be allowed to purchase this item just because they have the Euro's to do it.

Ok, w/o further ado. It wouldn't be right if I didn't make the 10K post something special.

I'll start this post w/some borrowed words from my twin brotha from another mother. His ability to put feelings into words are much better then mine…
…….

Now I’ll add some of my own words. It just seems like yesterday when I was approached by MrsWeCVO at the Va. State H.O.G. Rally in 2005 and she informed me about this site. She then introduced me to Mr.WeCVO and while at the Rally I met Shrader another member here. From that chance meeting of those three I've got to know all those that have become a part of my CVOHarley family.

I'd like to thank Naitram (Neal) for providing this place for us to become friends, riding partners, wrenching buddies and whatever else we call each other. Along w/that I'd like to thank all the members for making this place what it is; a great place for resources and just to hang out. I don't know of many places in this world (if there are any) where perfect strangers would reach out to one another like I've seen it done here. We laugh, cry, bitch, moan, fuss, fight, get over it, all the other emotions a family does together, and a lot of this is done w/o ever knowing the person that is on the other keyboard typing. We attend events/rides meet members and it's like we've known each other forever there are no strangers. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought something like this would exist it amazes me when I come here and hear the comments of those that have been members for a while and the new members that join. The feelings are for the majority all the same. This is a great community consisting of even greater members.

To all my CVOHarley Family I would like to say thanks for being a part of my life and I hope I've been a pleasant addition to yours. :2vrolijk_21:

Congrats on the 10K.  You're one of the first people I ever talked to on this site and have always been there to answer all, even the dumb, questions I've had.  Knowing you on here has truly been a fantastic voyage, but it doesn't compare to when I met you personally.  You're there when needed and even there when we don't know yet that we need you.  ;)  I'm honored to be able to have you as a friend.  Keep the great posts coming Bro!!!
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

Gary...congrats on the 10K, but more importantly thank you for being my friend, and for being such a valuable member of this great place.  You are loved and respected by everyone.  :2vrolijk_21:
Thanks, and right back to you I feel the same way about you and your contributions.

Gary:
I'll echo what Howie said.   :D  Seriously, congratulations on 10K.  That is alot of keyboard peckin'.  Whether you believe it or not, I really do appreciate your work efforts on this site.  It is a thankless, but necessary job, and you do it well.........so "THANK YOU" for all you do.

Peace!

Henry
Thanks I appreciate that. Looking forward to sharing some time in the wind w/you and a cold :drink: after. :2vrolijk_21:

Congrats Brother! You just had to wait till I logged off, huh? I stay up all night, waiting...get up early, worried I'd miss out. Still love ya brother. I haven't been a member here for very long but I have learned that when Gary speaks...people listen, and I always look forward to your posts. Can't wait to meet you in the wind some time soon.
Lastly, thanks for policing this site up from any drama, it is probably the main reason I stick around. Cause even with great info, drama ruins everything. Cheers!   :beerchug:

I saw that Gary was at 10,404 posts and went back to see that I had been in the thread just before he hit the 10K mark while at Nelosn.

That made me notice that the Nelson riders all missed the actually 10K thread and post for the most part anyway, so I'm adding an official "Great Job d00d" to this and bumping it back up to see if others that may have missed it can catch it now.

I appreciate all of your contributions Gary and you were one of the first members I chatted with when i got here, keep on keepin' on :2vrolijk_21: :bananarock:

Wow, I am so sorry that I missed this thread - It did happen while we were in Nelson, but Gary, you have become a great friend of ours and I am sorry I have not seen this earlier to say how proud we are of your accomplishments.  Not just here, but of course here is very important, but the new hip replacement that you have endured and tackled to the ground.  The arranging of meetings for some us VA folks, you are a fantastic organizer.  The finding of answers no matter how old and obscure.  You always answer your phone, when I would bet others would screen the calls and just not pick up when we reach out for the quick answer or clarification.  You are a very important member of this fine site. I am so proud that my humble greeting to a fellow CVO owner could have been the one that brought you here.  All your posts are kind, funny, inspirational and dead on accurate.  Congratulations on this fantastic achievement.  Post counts don't mean much to me, so sorry I did not see this before.  I don't pay attention to that number under folks avatars when I am reading their words.

Hey Mr Post Whore.  Curiosity made me look back to see how long ago the 10k thread started and who started it.  It was about me :bananarock: !!

Look at post 1 here.  103 was writing nice things.  Then for some reason I can't imagine that first post got edited more than a year after it got placed.  Just a few weeks ago.  Huh...  :huepfenlol2:

Howie, saw this thread again and thought about your contributions.  Just a guess but I'd guess you've got far and away the highest percentage of posts with pictures versus just posts.  All the images from trips, parties, this past weekend's Cincy thing and others have been very fun to see.

Well I'd like to thank the early well wishers and truly send a huge "Thank You" to Neal for this great site.

Bottom line when I found it I was just thinking I would find a few goodies to bolt on my bike and never thought that nearly three years later I'd have more friends and acquaintances on this site than I have goodies on my bikes.  Neal and the members that have come along, 7,000 of them since inception as of this week, have made this site what it is.

Sure it has morphed along the way but I hope for the better.  In Feb. 2006 I was joining and by summer I had been to a GTG and met great people.  Days before the ride I met Canuck online and we hooked up in Wyonming on the way down to CC along with Kerry's wife Sue and Geezerglide (Leo).

It's what the whole culture is about, riding and friends, riding with friends and making new friends.  On the way out of CC I rode with Big Al and his buddy Mike back to Park City.

Back home and through the next two summers this site would allow me to pass some time, meet great folks and attend two more GTG's in Nelson and Sedona.

Thanks to everyone I have met and chatted with and those I have yet to meet and chat with.  You are all what life is about..................Friends :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks, Roger

Jorge, you are half way there already.

If I had as many new bikes as you have i wouldn't have so many posts.

Admiral, thanks for the kudo but it's hardly awe inspiring, just fun bein' here

Funny, I have been watching my post count the past month or so and didn't even realize I had been here in December.

Well, I guess i must have posted in some not so "warm and fuzzy" threads along the way so on this day after the 7th B'day of the site I again am here.

So thank you again to all that have congratulated me previously.  Now I know what "Ground Hog Day" felt like for Bill Murray :huepfenlol2:

I need to get a new bike so I will have more projects to investigate and more answers to the current bikes :2vrolijk_21:

Seems like a good excuse for a new bike and more posts to me :nixweiss:
