Follow up on installing cam bearings and lifters.
I ordered the removing and installing tools from George's Garage.
This is my first time doing this and I wanted to inspect the rockers along with replacing the breather filters.
Here are a few pictures of the job.

Very easy to use, pulls straight out.

Using these tools along with the timing gear lock made this a relatively easy job. Getting the bike torn down to do this wasn't much fun.
The bike has 21,000 plus miles on it, I did this as preventive maintenance.
With the engine back together with the new lifters it definitely is quieter,  more than with the OE lifters that I always thought were quite.

I'm a fan of Georges Garage tools, if ya call you speak with George himself. I've got most all of the specialty tools for my bike. The proper tool goes a long way but obviously you know that, nice job.

Come over to the east coast and ride with us one day, just a hop skip and a few days ride

Thanks for the invite,  I'll be hopping and skipping my way north to Victoria BC next week for the West Coast get together. I've packed my rain gear, heated gear and over heated hydration vest, heck I'm going to toss in a few masks for the smoke from the fires in case the jet stream doesn't clear out the smoke.

Nice.  Having the tools is likely less than the cost of labor for even one such job.   So already more than broken even and you can tinker at will in the future.  Plus you're not on anyone else's schedule and have the satisfaction of literally seeing the work done.

Our small group of friends has the experience and tools that we can do everything the local Harley shops can do and more. PLUS we have the tooling and knowledge to work on the old bikes.
Most of us are retired (except Dave O. LOL…soon buddy!) and have the time to do it all.
It usually takes all day to change a tire if you include the BBQ and BS session .

I just completed the cam shoe tensioner and inner cam bearing replacement on my SEEG and my dad’s RK earlier this year.  George makes fine tools but I just couldn’t justify the costs for something I may never use again.  I bought the cheap Chinese copy off EBay and it worked flawlessly on both bikes.  If I were a mechanic and doing this job regularly then I’d definitely go with the higher-quality George’s Garage tools
