I have been using GPS since 2004 on a daily basis (I was part of a test group at work to see if they were viable in company cars). I found soon after that I did not need to see the screen and hardly, if ever, looked at it. The verbal is all I use, as long as the GPS has spoken street names, I, personally, see no reason to use the visual.
I also know I cannot afford the necessary data time to leave a cell phone GPS on all day every day so I advocate the use of a stand alone or OE GPS unit.
HD has some decent looking GPS mounts for the garmin units and although I read on here of it's shortcomings my Infotainment system one works great. So I suggest leaving the phone in pocket or saddlebag and let the GPS talk to you thru your headset or bluetooth. That phone at sometime is going to ring and you cannot stop from looking at it and then trying to get your gloved finger to touch the screen, which means you are distracted.
