A buddy has the same 09 USE4 as me and he always has oil accumulating in the A/C and then eventually puking out on the bike? 

His bike is not overfilled with oil, in fact it was half a quart low.  He runs the SE A/C and I have the Arlen Ness big sucker.  I don't have this problem but he does.

Can anybody explain why.  Is it possible that one or both of his vent bolts or hoses are clogged?

There are too many possible causes to list, from basic design issues to the high amount of variability in Harley's parts and manufacturing.  Simple things like partially obstructed drain holes in the head that allow too much oil to build up and overwhelm the breathers have been known to cause excessive puking.  Improperly assembled breathers would be another possibility.  And some bikes with that problem don't seem to have any obvious defects but they puke anyway.  A better overall design would be helpful, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.  So the short answer is, who knows?

I wish I'd known how to correctly break in my scooter, 'cause it's always puked oil when ridden hard.  Thought I knew how to break in a scooter, but maybe not.    spyder

As Gerry said there can be other contributers as well but that is the one most are in denial about and they charge hard trying to find other anomalies and worst case buy a lot of unnecessary aftermarket gear.

Do not rule out riding style.
Sometimes, long, higher rpm deceleration (like a long down hill mountain grade) will pull oil into the intake.
Throttle plate closed, high vacuum, can cause this.
I changed MY riding style, and the problem went away, no other changes to the bike.
THERE ARE OTHER CONDITIONS that can cause the problem, but try the simple (free) things first!

We recently had built a very potent 124"er that was "wicking" oil from the breathers into the 62mm HPI t/body, due to how hard the engine was pulling on the intake tract.
Plumbed it to the outside, and now all is good.

I'll have to remember riding style and oil leakage. I thought my rear cylinder rocker box was leaking but a different shop says they fixed it and the Arlen Ness Big suck A/C was installed incorrectly. Probaly not the same issue but I guess it could be related. I didn't see any oil streaming down the side, just pooled up on the rear part of the fins on the head and minor drops on the pipe shield. Hope it's fixed.

Another culprit ....lugging.

guppytrash, if your friend does lug his bike he could be experiencing "reversion". (air being forced into his intake tract during valve overlap) . Tell him to keep his RPMs up and see what happens.CAHDBIKER

Rerouting the lines won't stop the puking... 

It just changes the location of the puke from the throttle body to the ground (and whatever else it sprays on....)!

It still pukes, it just doesn't puke into the air cleaner.  The oil either drips on the ground, or to a catch bottle that has to be emptied occassionally.

You can fix the root cause or get a vented catch can that emptys back to tank

At that point, I'd perform a leakdown test, and if all is well, pull the rockers, replace the breathers, and open the rocker arm support plate drain holes to .125".
As a matter of fact, that is SOP on all our in-house installs.
