Title: 131 kit help
Post by: Hondo2doc on May 07, 2021, 05:49:30 PM
So I’m planning on buying a new 2021 CVO Streetglide in the whitepearl.

I want to upgrade to the 131 immediately. I really love the look of the stock exhaust. Can you guys recommend a header that allows me to use the stock heat shields and mufflers?

And which is better, pull out the 117 and replace with 131 or do the 131 upgrade kit?

I greatly appreciate any and all inputs. Thanks.

If you want to keep the 2yr warranty you have to use the HD header pipe with the 131 kit. The kit would be cheaper than the entire engine I would think...Ive heard the 131 runs HOT & some are burning up...

Highly recommend fullsac exhaust, both head pipe and cores in stock mufflers.  Looks 100% stock, performs great.  Its one of the best head pipes on the Market for the M8.

The kit is much more cost effective that getting the whole 131 motor.

Forget the two year warranty and go with the Fullsac & the 131 kit, if you were thinking possibly a new 131 doesn't sound like money is a problem.

Another option is the Fuelmoto jack pot header.

I would price a long block from the factory and see how much to install and update up

Local dealer here quoted $1800 to install the kit upgrade which would total around $5500 to upgrade

I have the 21 CVO Great White Pearl and had my dealer install the 131 kit prior to leaving the dealership with it. The 131 kit comes with a new header and my dealer installed the fullsac 2.5 baffles in the stock mufflers cans. I am now looking to go with a fullsac header also as I’ve heard I could still see more performance gains. At the time I purchased my bike there was not a 131 complete engine in the black granite finish. Looks like if you have a CVO your only option is the kit and not the engine. Hope this helps

Is anyone else having problems with a big deadspot just off idle on 2021 131?  The dealer has had the bike for over a week.  After a new throttle body they are saying the 21 cvos have a know tuneup problem.  They are telling me to ride it until the epa  oks the tuneup.. Sounds like pile of bs.  The problem is its dangerous to ride if you need to accelerate quickly from an idle

dump the HD tuner and get a TTS or other, then have it dyno tuned by a competent tuner. the results will amaze you ... of coarse you wont have a warranty any more, but the bike will perform as it should  :nixweiss:

HD rep showed up at the dealer, "installed a patch" bike runs as it should now.

yeaaaaahhhhhhhh!  I'd suspect he just did routine updates and properly flashed the bike with the right map.  The 131 map is working fine in other 131 builds.  But the patch thing sounds like a good story....
