Lower Fairing Instructions
« on: December 01, 2008, 06:49:10 PM »

I just received my lowers, does anyone have a link to some instructions on how to install these. I really don't want to make any mistakes with these.

I suggest for you to forget using the installation hardware that comes with the lowers and purchase the quick detachable hardware. The quick detachable hardware installation is much less complicated than the standard installation hardware. As far as installation instructions...sorry, can't help you there. The detachable hardware comes with basic instructions and a exploded view that really helped with the install, however, I did have to scratch my head for a while for the adapter that goes between the engine guard and the lowers. The exploded view provided the answer to my installation dilemna.

Thanks, I was trying to avoid the quick disconnect purchase until the summer, but it looks like it is time to open the wallet yet again.

Assuming the removal is anything like that on the old Road Glides it's actually a simple process.  Takes only barely more time with the stock hardware than with teh quick disconnect.  Though with the stock hardware you have the benefit of it at least still requiring tools so not any meathead on a parking lot can grab them as easily.

Well I figured out how to install them after starring at them  :confused5: in my cold garage for about an hour, only to realize I was shorted two parts.  :nixweiss:

Oh well hopefully the dealership will have the 2 needed jack nuts. I only received 2 and it appears that I need 4.

Ooh , that sucks , having new parts received and then recognizing that there are missing some parts to mount them , hell on earth .

seems that you don't need all the parts that come with the detachable hardware. Mainly for the EG.  i put mine on and only needed the lower hardware, the top is held in place by the caps. did I miss something?
