I have the same stand and can tell you that the installation is pretty straight forward and I don't think someone could install it improperly, but I suppose anything is possible.  I agree that the lever is difficult to get your foot on straddling the bike with passenger floorboards, however, I would recommend that you put your kickstand down first, get off the bike, hold it straight up and then use your right foot to push down on the lever while pushing the bike back, works real well.  For wheel spinning trying to drive off, I had the same issue, but found that the lower profile 150/80 rear tire I was using at the time was the problem.  Switched to the stock 140/90 and all is well.  You do have to be careful that you don't park over dips in the road, etc., the stand design assumes the pavement is level.  Hope this helps.

But again, you have a 2004 and I have a 2009, so they are not the same stand at all.  The new 09 frames required a new setup for the center stand and it doesn't mount the same way at all.  I did check it out last night, and I sure can't find anything wrong with the install.  I guess my first question is if anyone else has one mounted on an 09?  and if so, when it's on the center stand, does the entire bike lean a bit to the right side?

One of my buddy's has one on his 09.  He told me they did not yet make a version to CORRECTLY fit the 09, but the older version does work.  The 09 dog bone is different than previous years, so you only use 1 bolt with an older version.  This may explain why yours' tilts slightly to the right.  I haven't noticed his tilting, but haven't paid attention to it.  I will the next time I see the bike.

As for the "ride off" feature.  I have had the same experience you have had.  I put one on the 06, tried putting it up on the stand a couple of times to see how it works.  While you can technically put it on the stand when you're seated on the bike, it's not easy.  It's much easier to do it when standing on the side of the bike.  Trying to ride of it was impossible on my flat painted garage floor.  I've now got nice burnout marks on the floor from trying to ride off.  Even manually getting it off the stand on the painted floor was a pain.  I had to put my right leg back far enough to essentially hold the stand in place by pushing on the lever with my calf, rolling the bike forward and off the stand.  If I did not hold the stand (in relation to the bike), it would simply slide across the floor.  I could probably push it all over the garage on the stand.

Will it work if you have a Ride-Str8 installed?         http://www.ridestr8.com/

I don't know how he could have mounted the older model on an 09.  It's a completely different setup altogether.  They have them for 09's specifically.  We couldn't get the problems with mine figured out, so I ended up returning it for a refund.  I miss having it already, but it wasn't doing me much good if I couldn't take it back down off the stand.  With the tilt to the right side, taking it off frome standing next to the bike on the left side would have been a recipe for disaster.  I couldn't ride off, so now I'm going to try to make it to Mountain Fest in Morgantown so we can fit one on my bike again and see if we can get it to work properly.  We were getting nowhere by trying to figure what the problem was over the phone and I can surely last a few more months without one.  After I sent it back, I started wondering if maybe one side wasn't pushed completely into place.  If one side was sitting further to the front than the other, that could have created the tilting problem and the drive off problem, but visually they looked to be in place properly.  Anyway, now I'm back to putting the bike on the jack to clean the left side of the bike well.

Just a shot in the dark...they make several sizes of this stand...maybe one of the shorter sizes would work. That would keep the rear wheel on the ground a bit more :nixweiss:  WOOPPS--they only seem to make 1 for 09's

I found this and don't know if it applies.

Model #CS-09 Center Stand for STOCK Suspensions - Standard Height Model (With Chrome Foot Lever)
This model EZ-UP Center stand fits the standard height suspensions on the new 2009 Harley-Davidson touring motorcycles. If used on lowered bikes like the FLHX or bikes with profile shocks or lowering kits it will not allow for drive off. model

I haven't changed anything on my suspension.  I spoke to the place that sold it to me and to the company that makes them and we could not determine why there was a problem over the phone.  The only explanation that made any sense was that I got an oddball one with one leg longer than the other.  They mounted it and it all looked correct.  I removed it and remounted it myself, and it still tilted the bike to the right just the same way.  Oh well, it's not my problem anymore.  I guess I really didn't need that thing anyway.  I never even think about it until I see a post about it.

I had been looking at the EZ-UP Center stand too and saw this thread.  Did anyone else have problems with this?  I was wondering if it would cause problems with me loading my bike into my trailer.

Does anyone have the Park-n-Move Lowered motorcycle dolly?  It looks handy for moving the bike around in the garage during the Longggggg Vermont winters.

I also like the fact that this is made in the U.S.A.

Depending on the breakover of your ramp, this could definitely hit when loading your trailer.  It sits about 1" below the dog bone, so it MAY be far enough back to clear.  But you need to have somebody looking at your bike as you load it before you put one of these on.
