Cleaning powder coated parts?
« on: May 15, 2012, 10:58:01 PM »

I've noticed that the left sides of the heads on my 12 fltrxse look kind of "foggy" almost like theres a film or something over it, but hitting it with cleaner didnt help.  The right sides clean up nice and are shiny black.  Is there a trick to cleaning the powder coated parts?

I noticed the same thing on mine. I tried a few cleaners and detail sprays, none worked. Its almost like the powder coat is cloudy and has been that way since new.

Try Meguiar's Car Cleaner Wax, you will have your heads glossy black again  :2vrolijk_21: Seems to last too, I only applied it once, last October, and no fogging since.   You don't have to crazy, just wipe a little on, and wipe off.   Sold in auto parts stores in a burgundy red bottle.  Works well on the painted parts too.

I am not affiliated with company.....really...

CLEANING THE BLACK PARTS
« Reply #6 on: July 17, 2012, 04:04:03 PM »

First let me ask if anyone knows what the black parts on SE Roadglide are covered with, and what do you use to keep them shined up. Mine are only a few weeks old and they look dull already, I can't imagine what they'll look like in a year or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Had the same issue until I learned about, http://www.pigspit.com/, "Pig Spit Original" from this site. :mango:

Black parts look better now than when I picked the bike up last November.  :orange:

Are you talking about the shiny black powered coated parts on the cvo Roadglides, like the rocker boxes, primary, etc. or are you talking about the wrinkle black used on the motor, barrels, trasmission.
                Thanks Jonnierock

I tried it on all the  black parts on my bike including all the above.  It worked great.  I also use it on my brake calipers, running boards and foot pets. It also brings back to life the black rubber parts.

I just spray it on let it dry, and then use a Glare microfiber waffle cloth to shine. I have the 12 CVO Road Glide Skunk!!!
