Thinking of trading in and/or selling my 2013 Anniv. Ed. CVO Road Glide for a new 2016 Ultra, with the 103.  Seems to have lots of nice features, water cooled, etc.  Plus, my 2013 has been in HD Dealer for about 6 weeks looking for an engine noise and once the extended warrany people figure out the bike has been "tuned" they will probably cancell my warranty.

Any thoughts out there???

6 weeks looking for a noise? If that was my bike it would have been long gone from that dealer and on to another. Are they making your payments while it sits there? Did they give you a loaner? Sorry but that's just not acceptable.

Its a bad noise... and yes they  provide a loaner any time I want, per my EPS warranty.

I was looking at a burgundy one in the shop yesterday while my buddy was getting his bike out of service, for $14K less than the CVO it was a looker.

But... why not just get the CVO? You know you're going to spend that $14K trying to make it look and run like one.

If he's going to make the Ultra run like a CVO, there are forum members that can send him some inferior and noisy valve train components...

You must want the 2016 beyond the reason for the engine noise; the hit you'll take on depreciation will be sobering to say the least. I too would like the newer infotainment system but love my 2012 CVO SG and cannot justify the extra expense just for that.

first, don't assume what the esp folks are gonna do, wait until that happens and deal with it accordingly.

secondly, look objectively at your bike, and the 2016 ultra.  side by side if possible.  compare what you have with what you'll be getting.  I just recently went through this with my local dealer.  salesman kept pushing for me to trade in and go new, so I finally said, okay, let's look at numbers.  when it was all said and done, it would basically have been an even swap for me.  of course, since I had a balance due, that would be refinanced so I would still have a payment.  albeit a much smaller one, for a longer period of time.

but I looked at both bikes objectively.  in the end, I didn't want to give up my chromed front end, painted inner fairing, custom paint, blacked out engine, wheels, upgraded gauges, etc. for basically just the 6.5 infotainment and linked brakes.  I felt I was giving up too much, and not getting enough back (though the pricing was fair).

Thanks for the replies ... looks like no inspection from ESP- they agreed to pay the bill... Interesting that you buy these ESP from Harley, but in reality its from a 3rd party, who decides to pay...  Only that first 2 years is it really a HD  concern..

Great to here they will fix the bike under warranty !!!!
