It sounds to me like someone wanted to sell you a SERT, and started making some pretty wild claims, most of which are total nonsense.

When tuning a SERT or PC, proper tuning requires running the bike at different loads. This is why Dynojet, the maker of Power Commander, makes the DJ-250 load cell dynamometer. This dyno allow an operator to set a steady speed, regardless of throttle posistion, allowing the tuner to tune at any load he chooses.

Like I said, someone is feeding you some bull with statements like
I'm not jumping on you, but it is amazing how much dis-information is spewed about in order to sell one product over another.

you seem like a knowledgeable guy. why don't you call him and let him explain why the sert is far superior to the power commander??

I am running a PC, didn't like the SERT branding itself to the ECM.

i like the pc.
i just like the way the bike performs with the sert better.
depending on the tuner or the mods i am sure they are pretty close.
i tried several different tuners with the pc and just didn't think i was getting all i could out of the motor.
now i am finally happy with everything.
glad you are happy with yours.

I THINK JERRY (GARZNHOGS) HAD TO REPLACE HIS FOR SOME REASON.
Late gettin' in on this one, and it's totally unrelated; what I did was install the SERT and start fiddling with it myself. All was going well until I got distracted while uploading some changes, and I accidentally (read: stupidly) shut the ignition off DURING the upload. Bzzzzzzt...end of ECM. Bike is dead, no start :knife:. Dealer had a good laugh (and is still laughing), but tech installed new ECM under warranty and I had to buy a new SERT.  Had it dyno'd at Cycle-Rama, and got enough TQ and HP to make me happy.  Now wife yells at me any time I head to the garage with the laptop. :P

Ness Big Sucker, SuperTrapp 2:1, SERT, Dyno by Cycle-Rama = 107 hp, 108.5 tq. And that's all I need. Oh, wait... a working radio would be nice.
