What MPG do you get ?
« on: May 23, 2010, 12:10:33 PM »

I have a 2010 Limited Ultra, was getting 40-42 mpg. Put a set of Rush True Duals, already had V&H ovals, and just got 46.5 mpg. Fixing to get Tuned by Doc on the 29th, could it get better ??

My 2008 SERK has Bub7 headers and mufflers and a TTS Mastertune done by yours truly and I get 40-42 mpg regardless how hard I ride.  I got 240 miles out of my last tank before I put it in the crate on it's way back to the states.  Range said I had another 30 miles if you believe the computer.

Mileage is incredibly variable.  I've always looked to chase mileage to no avail, but this past week I found some things out.  As you go higher in altitude, mileage gets better.  At highway speeds, I typically get anywhere from 30-35 mpg.   As I headed west, I found I would occasionally get up to 40.  On back roads, I got as high as 50, which is unheard of at home.  Rode 2100 miles over the last 3 days with a guy on a bone stock 09 Ultra.  My Limited has pipes, air cleaner and tuner, and of course the 103".  He was running single with luggage, and we were riding double up with more luggage.  Each fill up, we'd take within 2 tenths of a gallon of each other, with me taking more by just a bit.

My 2000 SERG gets me about 180 miles on a tank of Priem fuel... I am going to have to check it but I go till the red light comes on and always fill, and its always around 180 mpg... I think this sucks

I get in the mid 40's or better, depend on how I twist the throttle.

Sounds pretty good to me, can't imagine why you think it sucks. ::)

Five gallon tank, 180 miles, that's not unreasonable range.  How many gallons are you actually using? (I'm guessing less than five.)  So you're probably right around the normal figure of 40 mpg.  Maybe not earth shaking considering what some small cars with air conditioning and umpteen accessories  can do, but for an air cooled dinosaur that's not bad.

Have a TTS tune...getting 40 riding into the mountains and about 42 riding down the valley.  However, if there is a bike in the lane next to me the mileage seems to go down...if that bike is a CVO it goes down even farther  :2vrolijk_21:

Like a lot of riders my mpgs variy too. On the way to Mendecino a couple of weeks a go I dropped down to 30mpgs. But that was fighting a STRONG head wind up the 5 Freeway and running at 80mph. On the curvy road from Fort Bragg back inland I got 42mpgs. On average I get in the mid 30s.

On my old '08 SERK with PCMIII, SE AC, V&H Dresser Dual and their Oval mufflers I got at best 38 to 39 mpg.  This is figured riding two up and on normal two lane roads.

On my new '09 SERG with TTS Mastertune (Fullsac's map), No CAT, Fullsac 2" baffles and the stock SERG AC, I gotten as high as 46.3, again riding the same types of roads as the SERK and still two up.

I'm really impressed with the motor in the SERG, or maybe it's the TTS, baffles and no CAT.

It runs great without any hesitations or backfiring on throttle down.

35-36 mpg on the SEUC before and after tune.  It is just much stronger now.

You are kidding, right?  Either that, or you do a lot of 100 mph touring with a full load into a head wind while riding the brakes.

On the 09 SEUC,
Riding with the HOG Club, just me 46mpg, 2 up 44mpg. (yes they ride that slow  :'( )
Riding @10/15 over, just me 42mpg, 2 up 40mpg, 2 up w/trailer 38/39mpg.
Riding with w/90% over 80mph, just me 37/38mpg, 2 up 36/37mpg, w/trailer 35/36mpg.
The other 3 bikes do better under any condition on gas mileage than the 09.
Riding into a headwind changes everything.
