Momma wants a new scoot....

I knew my habit was gonna cost me more money by getting momma involved in riding.... :oops: :huepfenlol2:

At current, she is riding my "hand-me-down" 2008 FLHX-Anniversary... but finally decided she wants a new bike of her own. :apple: :huepfenjump3: :apple: :huepfenjump3:

She's got her eye on a 2011 RKC in dark/light root beer, but HATES the leather clad bags and would prefer hard bags... but I cant buy a Road King Standard as they dont come in the root beer color!

Thoughts and opinions?...

Buy her the bike she wants and get some hard bags painted to match. You can then try to sell the OEM bags to recoup some money. All the time while you doing this keep reminding her how much you love her and will do anything to make her happy (while you are secretly creating a wish list for your bike to spring on her when hers is the way she likes it. ;) :D :D)... when Momma is happy... everybody is happy. :2vrolijk_21:

If she gets the RKC in the color she loves... as has already been suggested, just get the hard bags painted to match.  
I'd actually keep the leather bags, unless you really think they will be useless to you, cause it is fun to be able to switch out.
The bags being so easy to do that with.
Of course, selling them makes sense too.
Brand new leather bags, no fingernail scratches on them yet, I bet you will sell them fast and easily.

And... Congrats on the choice your momma has chosen.  Well Done!

There is one other issue... the RKC comes equipped with the power pack, raising the price significantly over the Road King Standard... and the stiffer clutch in the 103 difficult for her to squeeze...

I thought about just ordering bag assemblies from HD off of the corresponding Ultra... but the side covers are also different... (tu-tone on the Ultra and solid on the RKC) so that makes more money to spend.... Damn HD!

I agree the bags are easy enough to resell... but living in Hawaii I'd have to discount for the shipping... keeping them in the attic wrapped in plastic is probably a better choice...

I am waiting on my wife to tell me the same thing. She is riding on her second hand me down RKC. 1st on my 99 and now on my old 03RKC, she's only been on the 03 since June of 09 so I think I have some time left. I guess I really can't complain, if she ever decides she wants something that she picks out. I agree with others here get the RKC in the color she likes then change to hard bags. She will get electronic cruise on the Classic, I don't think it comes on the std. Road King but you can add it on extra. Who knows after she sees the leather bags on "her" new bike she may like them.  :drink:

In Oct.02 I bought an anniversary Fatboy that I rode daily ... I bought her a 2000 FXDL after she rode a 250 nighthawk fof 6 months...

In Jan.08 I bought the SG... and rode the hell out of that for a year, while giving her my now much improved Fatboy... and sold the FXDL to a friend.

After I took delivery of the SERG she adopted the FLHX and we put the fatboy up for sale.... the maket sux so it took a while to unload... but it finally left... (it made a great "spare bike")

So that leaves me with the SERG (still in the shop) and the FLHX (which I have a buyer already)

I fear being ridable bike-less... :)

I think she will miss the radio and added wind she will get will tire her faster. Once you have geezer glide it is hard to go back.
