Having worked with gyros just a little I can only say my first reaction was..... damn!

To work that's going to have to be a substantial spinning mass as high as possible. So something occupying (maybe) all the tour pak? Even then it's hard for me to imagine it helping to any real effect only within a very few degrees of the longitudinal/x/roll axis.

I'm probably wrong. Often am. And I've not even considered doing the match. But it's hard for me to envision this being any more than a minor aid at the soft margins.

Full blown outriggers would be cooler. Could go all Maori outrigger battle canoe themed. Screw it if it won't fit in a lane. Just something else to protest about.

MoCo probably tried ski poles as balancers as a possible solution prior to the Spinning Wheels Going Round. Am guessing the pole placement was too close to the bike, creating holes in feet and an occasional stabbed squirrel.

Locally the protests are mostly done by amateurs, so they should be called amateurtests.

Of course if you let the bike lean too far without the new system and it falls over you know what Mother Harley will say; "they all do that." :huepfenlol2:

If so, it’s time to step down to a smaller bike...that’s what I’ve seen guys do that are nearing the end of their riding days.

With that gyro in the tour pack, if you did go down, it would be a mother to get back up, wouldn’t it?

We don't know how much mass would be there. To significantly effect bike stability via a gyro it would have to be a good bit of mass though. And the higher the better. So it would make it a bit more difficult to stand up.

If memory serves the sticker that none of use ever look at a second time for tour pak weight limit is 20 or 25 pounds? I could easily see just the moving gyro part of such system occupying over half that. Add to that whatever enclosure and other bits would go with the system and, yeah, it's a significant chunk whirling away back there.

Gyroscopic precession is a weird enough thing to get your head around on a good day; just imagine the mess that would from doing it with a meat stick going thousands of RPM !! (I don't want to open THAT tour pak a few days later [even Gary wouldn't polish out that mess]).
