HD 585 cam opinion
« on: February 10, 2019, 02:16:00 PM »

Thinking of swapping the cam's from what came installed to HD 585.  Would change springs, rocker arms and also since cam plate is off, the SE high flow oil pump and billet cam support plate.  If any one has done this, what kind of change in seat of the pants performance can be expected?   :nixweiss:

I upgraded to a 117” kit from my CVO in my 2015 RGU and love it.

I went with T-Man's 585 which comes with his 113 kit and couldnt be happier. Tons of low end torque.  :2vrolijk_21:

It is a mild cam that is low end torque oriented. It will need 10:1 to provide the punch that the stock cam does however but will open up the 4k up range assuming the motor health is fine and the pipe cooperates. It will take a retune, from a flash tuner not the fuel adders.

Change rocker arms to what?  If to roller rocker arms, be aware you will need to clearance your rocker box lids...  Good Luck!

I ran the SE 585 in a non CVO 110 and really liked the results. Good low end torque. I did run about 10.8:1 compression with worked heads.
Good Luck

10.8 without a perfect tune is too high. Even then it would require timing pulled and negate power and torque gains and run hot. 1 would not push that 36 close cam past about 10.4 with a tight squish

I have had it in for the past 34k miles with stock compression and stock pistons.  Seems to kick in about 3k RPMs..Dyno numbers were 100/116 with a PC5 and MGS pipe....With a 58mm TB snd 5.3 injectors and Fullsacs dx pipe and 1.75 power cores dyno numbers were 110/114... I would use the SE 585 cams with headwork (10.1- 10.4) and a good pipe and tune and let her rip..

Agreed but use a flash tuner not a pc5 which neuters the delphi

HD Streetperformance...SE 585, CR 575, or TTS 150...? Which one gives the highest torque at 2000 RPMs with your headwork in a CVO 110?

If your target rpm is 2000, You really don't need much porting. A basic pocket port and
good valve job will get it done nicely. Larger intake valve may worth considering.

The valve job will get you allot just by itself. FWTW

I did that on a 2016 Road Glide Ultra as part if a Stage 2 upgrade. Everything You mentioned in Your post was installed (SE 585, valves, pushrods, etc) with Vance & Hines Power Duals, V&H Oversized 450, SE Super Tuner and professional Dyno.
The result was really good in terms of Torque and acceleration.

MCE Performance,

My target is a nice flat torque curve from 2k -5.5k...Juts wondering which cam will give me the greatest torque early..? Appears to be a cheap way to make my CVO 110 twinky perform like an M8..lol

I like the CR575 with my head work to accomplish what you are speaking of. Our package uses a 2.12 intake. This is more of an everywhere solution. It will be on right off idle but still be there in the high fives. I change the guides which helps with oil control over the long haul. This is just a head and cam swap. A retune is needed, flash tuner prefered, and a good pipe is needed. No true duals, but several 2-1-2 or 2-1 pipes will work. This dyno is with the SE585. Same results from either cam.

Thanks Don,

I am going to try the TTS 150s first...I have the SE 585s now (no headwork)...but thinking ahead would you recommend the CR 575 with your headwork in a 117 build if it were just between these 3? I know Tman has a few great cams with your headwork making 130/130 minimum, but i dont care about h.p..
