Title: Billett air cleaner covers
Post by: Screamin_Beagle on January 04, 2007, 02:28:23 PM
Is anyone interested in a Billett Aircleaner cover for their bike???  I spoke to Tim Doherty the other day and asked if he could make some custom billett covers for my bike.  He indicated that if I could get the art work together and tell him what I want,  he'd be willing to convert it to cad and cut some custom covers.  These will fit Doherty breathers and I'm looking in to the SE breather (they use the same filter so it should work).

Let me know what you think.

Ok, well at least I do know what my request would be.  Round cover.  Center bolt style.  Take the center emblem from your red bike.  Make that the template for the entire cover.  Same ball mill line.  Same 103 script.  Just our center section expanded out to a round cover.

Just add a Sreamin' Eagle head/neck like on the sides of my Vrod (same on the football cover on the Ultra).

Really, I would also be interested, Beags....You people have got to stop this chit!!!!  I have no more money!!!!

Or  this...just talkin' about the head/neck area

The 103 and Screamin' Eagle script might be incorperated as well

Just a thought....

Think I'd try to keep the same idea.  Round cover.  Ball milled design like the center emblem to complement the lines in my rocker boxes, lifter blocks, tubes and the passenger footboard covers when they're folded up.  Keep the 103 in the upper center.  Put the words "Screamin Eagle in the lower centered.  And put the head in a light engraving right in the middle.

What I talked with Tim about was a Screamin Eagle script on top of the center bolt,  and 103 below.  He also said that the CI number is no problem to change (95" 110" what ever).  We just have to come up with an idea that everyone likes and try to get the proper script and he'll make them up.  Only side note is that they will have to be flat (just because it's easier to do than a dome).

So Beagle...these will be large enough to cover the element, I'm assuming?  I don't have a problem with it being flat, but I'm assuming the 90* edge covering the filter will be radiused (that might not be a word).  The bottom of the part covering the filter could actually be "vented" if need be.

There could be a hundred ideas here...whatever is decided is fine by me.

And we're talking a round cover?  Not just a center emblem?  Trying to find a solution that gets away from the explosed element after all.

TC

Perhaps I got the wrong impression but I assumed he was talking about inscribing a design on these.

Ideally that's still my favorite solution.  But the 07 Springer/RK outer cover is on what is apparently an "extended" backorder.  So I wasn't even able to get the outer cover to begin the project.  Then got a bad case of the "aw, screw it"s and figured my center lid looked pretty good after all.

When can finally get an outer cover in hand might get reenergized.  Bah humbugged on it for a little while though.
