PROBLEM WITH CHROME PLATING ON 110 RINEHARTS?
« on: December 29, 2006, 10:09:14 PM »

I've been waiting since October for my local dealer to get a shipment of Rineharts for the 110's.  The story now is that the chrome plating on the first batch was bad.  Anyone else hear anything about this?????

Where did you hear the report of bad chrome?  I have had my 07 true dual Rineharts for about a month now (from Eastern Perforemance) and the chrome is spectacular.  Best I have seen on Rineharts and this is my third set....

I have also been waiting for about that long.  I have not heard about the bad chrome though.  I'm about to ask the dealer for my money back and get them from someone else....

My dealer told me that the first batch of Rineharts came out with the chrome having a yellow appearance to them, so they wouldn't ship them...that's why they are/were back-logged.   Something in the chroming process went wrong, I guess.  From what the chrome/accessories guy at my dealership told me, it was like a couple of thousands sets of pipes and mufflers...

I know this doesn't help those that are waiting, but you have to give them some kudos for realizing there was a problem and not sticking the end user with it. We all know of one company that quality control has been lacking lately, but I'll not mention any names. ::) :(

You got that right d00d.  That's a lot of profit down the drain for them, so that's definitely taking the high road.  I've heard that Bub is that way about their product, they have very high standards.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

No, but there is a problem with them fitting properly on the CVO's. I am experiencing that right now. Easternperformance is working on it for me.

The rear brake lever is striking the header pipe heatshield and Rinehart knows about the problem. They will most likely NOT correct the problem because the CVO's are limited and it would not make sense to re-tool the entire manufacturing process. I was forced to order a new brake lever to correct the issue. More info was posted here http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1167415500

This may be a dumb question, but did you ask them if the heat shield that's notched on the older head pipes would work on the newer pipes.  If so maybe they could send you a notched shield.  d00d help me out here.   You've got the notched shield correct?  Are your headers stepped like the new ones?  Could there be that much difference in the pipes to make up for the O2 sensors?    [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Mines are the Rinehart True Duals and as far as I know they have all been stepped headers. My heatshields do not have the notch. I've enclosed some pictures below.

Pic #3 BTW - I have no clearance problems w/brake pedal and it doesn't hit the shield.
