Title: Garage Door Opener Option for all Bikes
Post by: 49445CVO on August 10, 2009, 11:26:26 PM
Not sure if any one has used this or even posted this one yet but it might be a good alternative when looking to add one to a bike.

Nifty looking device, save for the extra button.
Just installed a H-D transmitter on a friend's VROD Muscle.  Simple install, and like the one that comes stock on the SEUC, it operates via the HI/LO beam switch.  Threw out the included "sealed butt splices" and used solder splices from All-Spec and a heat gun instead.

Hear ya on the button but I was thinking of it being hidden.

I too have a SEUC with it on/in the hi/Low but I was thinking of others that don't have our set up as well as to save some $$$ vs. the H-D set up.

Not too sure about squirreling away coin with this thing.  Before going to a 20% off house, anyone can pick up an H-D transmitter for $69.95 at their local H-D dealership.  They're wanting $99.00 for this thing when it becomes available.  Seems the only real advantage here is the device is self contained.
It may very well work, but hidden or not, there is still an extra button that needs a home on very limited, secluded, real estate, and the doggone thing costs at least $30.00 more than the H-D unit.   :nixweiss:

I guess you are right I thought it was more from H-D. It is only 129.95 - 20% at Chicago H-D.

I was thinking of when I was having a problem with my receiver and had to replace it and the cost for that instead of a kit where you would save a few bucks.

My bad,

If you have a spare remote that came with your garage door opener, you already have 90% of what you need.  Buy a weatherproof button switch, open up the remote and locate the proper contacts to activate the signal, solder two wires to the remote and the switch, mount the switch and the remote where you want them, and you have a better garage door opener at a much lower cost.  That's the method I used on my '99 Dyna, and it worked great.

Hi .
I saw Jerry's post on the bottom Re: spare remote on 99 Dyna.
I did the same on my 99 Dyna a few years back, Works fine.

Remote key fob cost $30 or so at the time
