« on: January 11, 2009, 02:50:11 AM »

Garmin just released a software update for the 478. 7 month wait and the only change is for the XM portion (weather only).
This update also updates the XM antenna.

If I have not done any updates and the version I have is not 3.90, it will update everything up to 3.90 :nixweiss:

I have only cut the unit on for 2 minutes, so I don't know what I have

You got the 478?

The changes are cumulative, so all you have to do is the newest update.

The version number is visible at startup in the lowermost right hand corner. Once the unit has powered up, go to the Setup tab in the main menu. Hit the menu button once and the down arrow button twice, then enter. Here you will see Software version, Audio Package, and unit ID.

Yes...I bought it new still in the box from a fishing forum. $400 and sent in and got a $200 refund from Garmin.

Perfect for the skiff and bike

You've done well. You're going to love the unit. Next time I see you, I'll let you borrow the GXM antenna so you can see the radar. All of the electronics for the radar are in the antenna so you can use it on any 478/378.

Thanks. Time to update the software. Too bad the XM weather is so expensive for this unit.

That was you guys! Damn, to much craziness going on in Washington. This year we stayed out of DC until Saturday afternoon and rode the BRP on Friday and Saturday. I always look for the SE's wherever I go. What's funny is last year I remember seeing a number of '08 SEUCs, this year I think I only saw 2 - one casper and one other longhorn. Didn't see a single duracell. Always see lots of older ones and this year I saw a number of 09's.
