iPod Classic vs. Ipod Touch
« on: August 15, 2009, 08:48:17 PM »

Any opinions on which one to buy.  Where do get the songs?  Is there a bracket to mount these on 09 SERG?

I own both and use the touch a lot more. The classic will hold more music but unless you are talking about thousands and thousands of songs, the touch should do you just fine. The touch is also an internet access device, a movie player and several other useful things. Just my opinion.

You can get your music from iTunes (not recommended) or rip CD's onto your computer and transfer them to the device (recommended).

Also to note is that the Classic has a regular hard drive to store the songs - not really good for a high vibration environment (like on a motorcycle) so longevity may be an issue.  The iPod touch uses flash memory which is not affected by vibration.  Lots of good mounts for iPods are available.

cheers!

I would go with a Nano myself but if you are looking at only these two go with the touch.  I second what was said about the vibrations! Riders Claw has holders for the Nano and the Touch now!!! He is on CVOHARLEY and offers a discount look him up!  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: I have bought two mounts from Ken and HIGHLY recommend his products!  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

I just mounted my nano with velcro on frame between the tank and the steering neck. easy piesy.
I made a few mega play lists and set the player on "shuffle". Only problem is I stole it from my daughter and its pink!

I have the touch also. i have it velcro mounted in the left hand glove box. Iron Cross Audio will add a Aux input on the back of your radio for $60 inculding parts and labor. you can then run your cord on the inside of the fairing, drill a small hole in glove box and your done. stealth mount with no worries about rain or bad weather .

Sounds like a problem for another website. Do you have the new SERT on your PC?

No.  How would that affect the ipod syncing with Windows media player?

Figured out how to get Windows Media Player songs into iTunes.   Right click on son or album in media player, box will appear.  Choose "open file location".   The songs will appear in a new box already highlighted.  Then just drag them over to itunes.  If the formay needs changed, itunes will tell you and do it for you.  Then you can sync your new ipod touch that you don't really understand how to use.  At least then the songs are there.
