Some of you know him as Miguel and some of you know him as Mike.
He went down this morning, in San Diego. Don't know any of the specifics of the accident but just learned that he is in Intensive Care...no brain damage, but is on a ventilator. Broke his left arm in three places and has one rod and a plate. Broke his clavical, has a gash on his right hand, right knee is tore up and lots of staples and road rash.
This info. came to me second hand. I will stop by the hospital when I get back to San Diego tomorrow afternoon.
EDIT: Babe got a Go Fund Me page set up to help with his medical bills (he does not have medical insurance)..... https://www.gofundme.com/mikesmedexpense

I was resistant to post this picture.....this is Miguel on Fri. evening after his second surgery...
-
And here he is this afternoon. They already had him setting up in the chair when Ernie and I got there this morning. Not yet looking like he did in the first two photos of this thread but he was still in the chair when I left at 3:00 p.m. Physical therapist came in and I don't like to see a grown man cry so I left at that time....but he is doing so much better in just 48 hours...awwww to be young again....
-
Thoughts and prayers for a speedy and whole recovery.

Atta Boy Miguel! Keep up the recovery and the effort! Excellent work!

So sorry to hear the terrible news, but glad you're on the mend.

They moved Miguel out of ICU yesterday afternoon. This guy is bouncing back fast! Some of you may still remember what it's like to be young. :P
-
JC can you supply the location where he is? Have some folks that would like to know. Or PM me if you would like

Here's a link to a Go Fund Me page that Babe just got going.....

I just want to add that he started his own painting business a couple of years ago....pays his taxes and even got workmen's comp insurance. He thought his workmen's comp covered him also, but we learned yesterday that it does not. He does not have any medical insurance!

DAMN! Please teach him how to negotiate with the hospital. They won't get more than 40% of their billable fees from an insurance company, sometimes even less.

Miguel is a really good kid that would do anything for anyone. Hard working guy that has built everything he has from scratch with no one handing him anything. Even when we are out on a ride he is on his phone at every stop working and making sure he is making good on his commitments to his customers. I have always respected and appreciated his work ethic and hope all the great people on this forum can throw a few bucks to him in his time of need right now. Every little bit will add up in the end and will hopefully take some pressure off him.
He has worked hard his whole life and as soon as he can I am sure he will continue to do so, this is the time we can all help one of our own!
-
Mike is doing much better.....
-
Miguel needs to visit the nurse in carson city again like ak said.

Yea, Andy suggested that to him on the phone last night. :P

I hate to see this, especially since Miguel was so getting into it this past year or so. I hate it for him and it just makes me sick.
I pray that he will quickly heal and return to normal, both physically and mentally. I hope this doesn't ruin riding for him, as we all know how much he's been into it lately.
I sure to hate to see this and hope the best for him.
