Title: 2014 Limited, first good run
Post by: Atcon776 on June 02, 2017, 07:24:34 PM
Well I have to say I am impressed with the CVO. I had a 2003 ultra I had bought new and looked after for 14 years and didn't plan on ever selling but I found a very good buy on 2014 with 2500 miles and couldn't say no. I ran it across Canada last week and put 5500kms (3400 miles) on in 5 days. I was worried that I wouldn't find a big difference for what I paid to trade up. My worries are gone, what a machine. I have no complaints what so ever. Tire wear better, fuel mileage better, much more comfortable. Would have to recommend to anyone running an older model.

Tires wear the same. Have nothing to do with your hardware.

Well actually tire compounds have changed drastically over the last 14 years. He may have not put new tires on his old bike in a long time. In the past I was hard pressed to get 12K on a rear tire. My last tire change on my 14 Limited I got right at 22K.

Be Safe

I have stepped up every few years from 2001 to my current 2014 cvo and everyone has been better then the last. Improvements in radio tires frame engine tank and tranny.

Disagree totally. I wore out tires on my 2010 and 2011 Limited much faster than I do with my 2014 CVO Limited. A Less powerful bike will require more turning of the throttle wearing tires faster. I also think the linked brakes have something to do with better tire wear.

The newer tires with the extra width must make a difference. I never made it close to the 13,000 miles I am at now.
I ran another 5000 miles back from the west coast to NB and was great until I was 300 miles from home, my saddle bag left me and jumped under a tractor trailer. Nothing left. I have another one ordered but be a while to get. I found a bad off a 2015 street glide to use as a temp. Are all the bags the same on the glides from 2014-2016?

there was a recall on the bag clips .. you should be able to get MoCo to warranty another bag ...

Dealer says update was done by original owner, no help from them. Insurance job at this point

My right bag came off just past the warranty time. I had the recall done when it first came out. My dealer agreed it should be taken care of by them and they did it. I surprised and pleased.  My dealer, Hellbender in Marietta Ga., has always done a great job.  Since the recall was done the dealer may require assurance the bag was properly in place. I filled out a form explaining the circumstances and location of the issue and it was covered.  This was also right past the two year mark and I am the original owner so that may make a difference.  FYI - I didn't trust what was done so I replaced them with $5 worth of parts from Lowes to make sure they don't come off again.  There are several threads on this in this forum.

anyone know the production numbers for the 2014 cvo limited's by color ...
I found this about a year ago.  I don't know for sure if it is accurate but I bet it is close.  Your dealer may be bale to give more accurate info.

The three color production numbers:
•   Jupiter Blue    = 744 total and 583 in US.
•   Orange/Black  = 1930 total 1297 in US
•   Cherry/Black   = 1453 total 1177 in US.

Anyone have a parts breakdown of the saddlebags on the CVO limited? I am having an issue with my dealer, went to order parts and their prices are all 5-10% above list and they didn't give me the part numbers just the names. I am going to do some shopping around, and now I remember why I quit using my local dealer.  Thanks for any help
