Title: My new Victory. aka My ode to TN
Post by: Ghost Rider on September 05, 2017, 05:47:22 PM
I have always been a fan of TN's "drunk bike" concept, and so I've spent the last few years keeping my eye out for the right bike that would cover the needs of being a quality touring bike, fun to ride, and really nice to look at.  Oh, and most importantly be easy on the wallet for a poor Missouri country boy.

My search ended a couple of week ago when I picked up this Victory Ness Magnum.

I first noticed this bike during the NMIM back in early June.  It was part of the last remaining Victorys at the Rogers Indian dealership.  And after several weeks of negotiating, compromise, and in the end pleading, I finally wore the wife down to the point where she never said "yes", but she quit saying "no."   :cherry:

I've only ridden it a few miles.  But it's like Phoebe Cate's butt smooooooooth.  What a nice ride  :drink: :drink: .

Well done Travis!!  :bananarock: :drummer: :pepper:

This Magnum is #31 of ???  I'm not really sure how many Victory ended up building.  According to limited research (trolling Victory message boards) it seems as though right around 300 were produced.

I have started calling the bike Elmo (to go along with Kermit), but my daughter said that was stupid and I should name it Animal.  What do you guys think?

To help sweeten the deal on the bike, the dealership basically added every accessory they had left, plus whatever they could get from other dealers, including tri-oval exhaust, cams, and hi-flow air filter.  And they installed everything for free.

Very nice looking ride.  Surely,  "one of a kind" with that paint job.

Hope you enjoy it for many years to come. :apple:

I gotta be honest, I'd give up both bikes to check the smoothness of Phoebe Cates butt.  Just sayin...

Travis - that is the best Victory by far I have ever seen (a picture of)!  Fairing looks good even!  Ride and enjoy, looks like you got a heckuva deal.  :2vrolijk_21:

Considering Phoebe Cates and all, maybe name it "Fast Times".

Nice looking ride. I have a friend that has a Cross Country with 160k and still going without rebuilding. At least no worries about lifters. lol Enjoy :drink:

Nice ride for a drunk bike  :2vrolijk_21: when Kenny lee takes ya down to fat daddy's after some torrential rain and you get back to the destination, will you wash it?

Hey Travis like several others have said:  that's the best looking Victory I've seen.  Congrats and enjoy.  You bringing it to BBB?

Yes, I'll wash it.  I've got OCD about that stuff.

Not many.  Finish the remodeling job that I started back in May.

I hope so.  If I get there, I'll bring Animal.

The biggest difference is the Victory is about 200 pounds lighter than the SG.  It's just way easier to handle.  It's also much smoother than the Harley.  Almost no vibration and very quite.  Kermit has way more torque, but then again, that's why I spent all of that money on cams and pistons.

Hmmm, maybe "Elmo" would be better then.  :P

Good point. But by the same token, the Street Glide isn't much like Kermit, so Animal might still work.

Thanks JR.

It occurred to me when I saw your signature picture that my bikes and yours together would make a motorcycle traffic light.

Very nice ride you've got there, G.R.  Congratulations.  That paint job is A#1.

I like Animal for the name.  It fits plus your daughter has ownership in naming it... :2vrolijk_21:

Congrats on the deal, too.  There are still a few Victory offerings at the Clinton Hwy. (Knoxville) dealership and at Crockett Powersports in Chattanooga with some dang, good deals to be had.  I would love to have that Vegas Crockett has....

Bingo! Fast Times is best name yet.

You should go get it and make them throw in a bunch of free crap.   I was only fooling around with this deal until they dropped the price another $2k and told me all the stuff they'd throw in.

I do like that name. I think I stole it from Polaris. Hopefully the Dealership made something.
