Title: 2018 CVO Road Glide CFR
Post by: gpopvet on September 22, 2017, 06:25:39 AM
Has anybody used the CFR with the 2018 117 engine and can they be adapted to use the new guards and tips to look stock? Thank you.

I don't think CFR has changed this; in the recent past, the tips were *not* changeable.  And since they're megaphones, the heat shields need to be same shape.  Most people don't use heat shields with CFRs.

I found some generic megaphone mufflers on FleeBay which have removable tips.  Don't know anything about the quality or sound, but they cost 1/3 of what CFRs do.

Cfr s are really tough to tune I've been told.  I know there are much better choices out there.  Loud as can be and that sucks to be behind someone who has them.  Stuart

That’s the worst decision you could make on your 40+K bike
In spite of what some would say, they’re the most performance robbing,  money you could spend

CFRs.... LOUD doesn't equal POWER!

I love mine. Have had them on 2 different bikes. Nothing sounds better in my opinion.  As far as performance so I am going to loose 1hp but sound great. So be it.

I think it's more the nasty torque dip in the range where most people ride than a 1HP loss that folks don't like. But you're right, sometimes the goal isn't Performance. I have friends who are fine sacrificing power for sound. I'd personally throw on a fat cat or Boarzilla depending on the build and just have both.

I have to agree with everyone's opinion here.....they do rob power, it is like perfume on a pig, loud doesn't = power, garbage, etc.......however I must say they are not hard to tune, they are impossible to get a smooth TQ curve from them. They sound good but they SUCK for performance. CFR= Can't Fu_ _en Run

I have Boarzilla's on my Roadglide with a S&S 124HC which runs like a striped a-- ape and CFR's on my 17 Streetglide with a stage 3. I knew no matter which pipes I did (use a Fuel Moto header) that bike would never run like my RG and when I spoke to my tuner, he also said they weren't hard to tune but would lose bottom end. My brother in law has always run CFR's on his 13 C VO Roadglide and I have always loved the way it sounded and my riding style does keep me up in the revs so I went for it. No question sometimes I get bugged by the lower end but can't help it, I fricking love the sound and of course have my bother bike when I "want to run". I will attach the dyno sheet for all to criticize but will say once you get over 3 grand the bike still runs great (and is also much quieter than my Boarzilla's).

Looked at your dyno run, and was impressed by how good the TQ curve looked below 3K RPM; the other CFR curves I have seen had much lower TQ below 3K, then they "came on the pipe."   :D

I for one, do not spend money to loose torque, or have a bad torque curve.  I look for great torque curve with good sound or even ok sound.

I agree Dave, and plenty of torque you have. :) I look at the curve before peak numbers.
