Title: adjustable clutch lever 2012 SG
Post by: rowle on April 05, 2018, 08:11:30 AM
Hi All.
Not on here too often but hoped you might be able to help.

I have a 2012 CVO streetglide and want to add some adjustable levers (mainly the clutch).
I cannot find anyone who makes them for the 2012 but do you know if they are the same levers as the standard hydraulic clutch on a 2014 - 2016 Rushmore model ? - there are plenty of those to choose from.

I have checked out the part numbers and they are different BUT they look the same on the photo.

Thank you in advance for any help.

your 2012 should be the same as my 2013.  I used the oberon adjustable clutch lever on mine, very happy with it.

with the standard lever and the hydraulic clutch, it feels like you have to let the lever almost all the way out before the clutch engages.  with the adjustable lever, you can move the 'friction zone' closer to the lever.  i feel i have more finesse if i don't have my fingers almost all the way extended.  apparently, i'm not the only one.

I tried to get them for my 2012 CVO Road Glide Custom. I contacted Oberon and even sent a picture of the clutch lever. They said they don't make the clutch lever for my model and year, only the brake lever.

I know it took me months to get used to the Hyd clutch from my cable one. I had the cable one dialed in.....

i think softbrake makes a reduced lever for the cluch and brake i have also read somewhere that the adjustable lever was only usable in one or two settings and some people say that's not enough

I believe you are correct.  It all depends on how much closer to the grip a person needs the lever; there are some positions that will result in insufficient travel of the master and slave cylinders to completely release the clutch.  People who use adjustable levers need to understand the limitations and resist the temptation to go overboard.  Fortunately the late model bikes are better in this regard than the older CVO's that barely had enough travel with the stock lever and cylinders.

All softbrake makes for the 2012 CVO RGC is the brake lever.
