Title: Hello from England
Post by: Kevinski on December 10, 2007, 03:31:41 PM
Hi guys,

I have just done a great deal with my local HD store. Traded my 2007 Fatboy for a new 2007 CVO Ultra in blue. Pick it up on Friday the 14th of December, cannot wait.

Cheers,

Kevin

Thanks guys for the warm welcome.

Coolbreeze I live in the city of Norwich in Norfolk (100 miles north east of London).

Only one more day to wait, I am taking Friday off as a holiday to pick the bike up, my local dealer (Black Bear) is 50 miles away, so aim to get there at lunch time knowing that any ice on the road will have melted by then.

Cheers,

Kev

Eh, Kevin,

Welcome from Toronto eh!

My wife's family all live in the north Yorkshire Moors and someday soon we hope to ship our bikes over 'ome for a little tour of Ireland, Scotland, England & Whales.  What would you say is the best time of year to plan it?

Congrats on your new bike... You're going to love it!  It's now 2:20pm Saturday, December 15th (your time) and I'm wondering how your delivery and first ride went?

Take care & ride safe,
Mike

Hi guys,

I collected the bike yesterday, the 50 mile run to the dealer had my hands frozen with the 35 degrees Fahrenheit air temperature, I had to defrost before I could do the paper work.

I asked the dealer to put on the rider back rest and then as I went to set off, I thought how do I get my leg over this, I tried several comic attempts before realising I could bend my leg and put my knee over and swing my leg down, I was sure glad it was a Friday and there was no one else out the front  ;D

Driving back was a very different experience, warm hands with the grips set to high and I had the seat set to low to. No wind blast, felt great and my legs were not being blown off the foot boards. The engine feels great, very smooth (keeping the revs down as per run in instructions).

Finding neutral took some getting used to, (feels so different to the ‘six speed’ on the Fatboy). I would stop at a red light and I kept taping between first and second, the lights would go green before I got neutral.

I have been out again today getting used to the gadgets etc, and my left foot appears to have learnt how to find neutral.

Going to wash the glide tomorrow morning and will take and post some pictures after.

Cheer, Kev

Mike, on England, May to September is good, recently we have been getting very rainy July’s. Peak temp is around August. Ireland and Wales normally get more rain that England so make sure you have some wet weather gear. People tell me May is best for Scotland in terms of least amount of rain.

Welcome From Scotland Kev!

The finding neutral thing will get easier, mine was a nightmare at first, but it's fine now.

Hey Kevinsky, glad you enjoyed your first ride. I have the 07 light candy cherry (it's my third ultra) & yes there is a lot of do dads to learn about on these bikes. Hope you love yours as much as I love mine!!!  Linny

BTW, Not to get a international problem started or anything but between you & me i've heard the Red ones are much faster. LOL. Enjoy my friend.

Hi Linny, I convinced a guy at work that adding chrome to my Fatboy made it quicker as there was less friction from the air as it passed over the bike. I did not mention the additional 20 pounds in weight that it added  ;D
