Title: Bell Custom 500 - 3/4 helmet
Post by: TankerPig on May 02, 2010, 02:10:13 PM
Since the ACC recall came out, I had to find a new helmet.  This time I thought a 3/4 would work great since I wanted to cut down on the wind noise.  After some searching, I found Bell's new Custom 500.  I had a Bell Drifter that didn't fit too well, but the Custom 500 fits my head really well and is extremely comfortable (just follow the sizing chart on Bell's website: www.bellpowersports.com/main.html).  It's obviously not even near as low profile as the ACC helmet was, but I feel it's still pretty low considering the amount of crush material inside it to qualify as DOT.  I ended up buying two, the Speed Soul and the Orange Metalflake.  J&P Cycles was on backorder for the Orange flake ($120) until mid-June when I originally ordered, so I ordered the Speed Soul ($140) from Extreme Supply since I needed a helmet right away and they were in stock.  I received the Speed Soul pretty fast, but received the orange flake about 4 days after (apparently backorder until mid-June = a few days).  The wifey was feeling generous with my money, so I got to keep both  ;).
