Title: 2013 MODELS: FLTRXSE2 CVO™ ROAD GLIDE® CUSTOM
Post by: naitram on August 20, 2012, 07:53:24 PM
Overview

This distinctive shark-nose bagger now features the Daymaker™ LED headlamp, and is the first production Harley-Davidson equipped with this very bright and precise headlamp system. The high-output Harman/Kardon® Advanced Audio system is upgraded with a second 200-watt amplifier and a pair of 5x7-inch speakers with bridged tweeters located in the saddlebag lids in addition to 5x7-inch fairing-mount speakers and two-inch dash-mount tweeters. The audio system features CD/AM/FM/WB, an 8GB Apple® iPod® nano located in the right-side saddlebag, and a new, more-sensitive hidden AM/FM antenna located within the fairing.

Other new CVO Road Glide Custom features include a smoked Wind Splitter windscreen with a ghosted Harley-Davidson graphic, a chrome billet-style extended reach heel shifter, a low-profile, two-piece seat with diamond pattern leather inserts, a black 1.25-inch handlebar, and Slipstream Collection hand grips and foot controls. Three new color combinations will be offered for 2013, including the 110th anniversary scheme.

A highlight of each 110th Anniversary Edition model are solid bronze fuel tank badges, plated in black nickel and then distressed to highlight the bronze. A bright gold-tone Bar and Shield cloisonné is inserted in the main body of the "single wing" badge while each motorcycle will carry other model-specific anniversary badging, trim and a serialization badge.

Puzzled,

I like me the orange one too. I just can't afford to rustle one up at this time. Love my 2011 too much to trade it in.
I'll just have to wait around a few years for a garage queen to show up here or on eBay I guess.

Enjoy your new ride!

2nd choice after the orange .. real nice look. Guess my least favorite paint combo is the 110 Anniversary Edition.

I'm first on the list for an Anniversery, but, unless it really looks better in person, I'm thinking my 09 will do me just fine for a while more......

Of the 3 I like the anniversary....

Key differences between 2012-2013:

Is that it?... I guess at $33,999 for an anniversary bike, when you price all the individual pieces, its a bargain... but still no lowers or tour pak!

Already posted in the "generic" 2013 thread, but I'll throw it in here too:

Like the heavy breather & LED headlights (wonder when they'll be available for the older models and if they'll drop right in). Don't get why they chose to do the inner fairing in the secondary color; part of what makes the CVO "pop" over the standard RG is the painted inner fairing. Why choose to do it in the muted color?

Tank badges just don't seem CVO worthy... but then I love the Screamin' Eagles... which is why I probably won't find anything I like better than my 09!

the 'Eagle graphic is the one thing that drew me to buy the '09... I liked the silver... but trying to ride that bike during the day created glare issues. Not even good polarized glasses did the trick.

Still, I put 33K miles on her before turning it in.... a couple of failed lifters, and a bunch of other broken parts.... warranty took care of most.. but the upgrades cost me $$$$

So far, I'm happy with maple

Well I love the Anniversary color, good thing as I put a deposit on it over a month ago.  LOL.

I also really like the anniversary color on the Anniversary CVO Road King, have a deposit on it too.

Now I have to decide which I really want the most.  Its a hard choice.

I am keeping the 12 Skunk.  Till at least 45K on it or so.

I will keep the 13 very long term like the 03 Fatboy, the only bike I have owned more than four years.

Which one, I need to decide fast.

The Anniversary color is very classy, I love it.

FLSTFI Dave, my two cents (and worth less every day) I would go with the SERG in the anniversary color.  I am NOT a Road Glide fan but recently my buddy bought a 2012 Skunk and it's a pretty good looking scooter.  Still like my SESG but am being impressed everyday by his Road Glide.
As for the SERK, I'm still weighing on that vented windshield and not sure how the iPod will work without any visiable display anywhere for music selection.

Hey, either way would be a nice way to go....maybe a better road on the road glide...see what I did there?   :bananarock: :bananarock: :bananarock:

Well, for me, I have been waiting a year for these models to come out.  Going to go with Road Glide, Just need to pick between the Orange and Anniversary.  I have money down, and the dealer is expecting a call from me on paint selection.  Leaning toward orange.  Hard to be a skittle in all dark colors.  LMAO!

My $0.02 worth (only an opinion).

The Anniversary look is classy. The Anniversary costs $1k. I'd put that $1k to a detachable TourPak.
The Anniversary editions seem to be mixed between standard 2013 Harley models and 2013 CVO models.
Why would I pay extra for a CVO to have it look like a "whole bunch" of standard model Harleys when it comes to paint?
I want my CVO to stand out in the crowd. I don't want it to be part of the crowd like the 105th Anniversary Duracell bikes.

Go Orange CVO my friend, be unique, be a skittle!

DH

I agree 100%... glad I fought the urge to wait for 110th anniversary editions and bit the bullet last year. The headlights are waaaay cool though. I also like the color of the anniversary edition more than the other two but the skull badge is cooler than the badge on that model.

I like the colors but would prefere an eagle emblem to a skull on the tank and fairing. I guess the anniversary badge is close to eagle but too close to a club's symbol. (Wouldn't want to offend a member of that group.)

I broke down and picked up the Cobalt and Midnight blue RG CVO about a month ago.
No Regrets here, still think that blue is the best I have seen in years and the 2013 colors are not popping any more for me!
Of course the fact that I got a smoking hot deal on the 2012 with Cams, Lifters, Tuner and Pipes already installed and at 635 total miles, all kind of helps :-)

its a cvo "custom" not a cvo ultra glide they did that in 2011...just saying.
Of the 3 I like the anniversary....

Key differences between 2012-2013:
  • Etched windscreen
  • 1.25" bars (I think I want)
  • hidden antenna
  • stereo upgrades (amp, bag speakers)
  • headlights
  • extended heel shifter

Is that it?... I guess at $33,999 for an anniversary bike, when you price all the individual pieces, its a bargain... but still no lowers or tour pak!

I know is hard to admit/accept... but it is true... I have ordered everything I needed (except the speakers for the lowers) to take mine close to matching the equipment on the '12 Street Glide CVO... Even the 2013 RGC CVOs don't match the '12 SESG on equipment...

Hey BAT WINGER... take that blasphemy out of this SHARK thread!   :soapbox: :P

Not blasphemy. The 2012 SESG is a better bike. But I am seriously considering upgrading to the 2013 SERG. It honestly ROCKS

OK, that is it, gloves come off now :sauer024: ... "best offering" absolutely. But "best bike"  >:(   I think you are a bit disoriented... this is the CVO Road Glide Custom section...  I think you need to go here: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?board=65.0

Bye bye  :vrolijk_26:

Well I decided, I am not going to get the Anniversary Color CVO Road Glide even though we all know the SERG is the best Harley.  I decided to go with the Anniversary color Road King. :)

I am keeping my Skunk, which I feel is the best looking SERG.  I like it even more than the Silver 09 I had.  I will have to get the Black Daymaker LED lights for the Skunk though.  I think they will look good on it and be a big help at night.

All the years of telling my kids not to give in to peer pressure, out the window!!  :D  There is no logical reason for me to get them, heck! I have been telling myself all this week that my PIAA are just fine... and even if those fail I can get HIDs for 49.00... US$49.00!!... but I keep looking at those LED and see all you guys jumping on them.. sad example for my kids...

My buddies Skunk NEEDS these LED headlights.  I ride in front most of the time and even after adjusting the aim of his lights, they are STILL too dim. >:(

When I get it, I will share photos.  Waiting now to hear when I can expect delivery.  The screen is growing on me, if it works like they say I will keep it, if not I'll change it.

Well I ride home quite  bit in the Dark on hilly, curvy country roads.  Put LED's on the wifes bike a year ago for that reason, she rides home alone at night 56 miles in the dark.

I think I might bite on the new LED lights.  They are reported to be plug and play, no external stuff to mess with.  Maybe an early Christmas present:)

Somebody will be buying a VERY LOW mileage roadking in a few months ! You should have seen my happy dance as my roadking went down the road a couple of years ago ! Once you go shark nothing else has spark...

Well, I just put a deposit on a Gold/Green 2013 FLTRXSE2.  Supposed to be delivered to the dealership on 9/19. I hope I like the color combination when I see it in person-if not I'll pass.

Stopped the dealer to see what they had coming in.  They have a Gold/Green coming in mid to late September.  Are asking $1500 over MSRP, what kind of offers are other people getting on the 2013 FLTRXSE2?

I personally would never pay over MSRP.  There are many, many dealers who sell these bikes at MSRP.  Have you checked other dealers within a 200 mile radius?  I'd drive 200 miles for $1500 plus tax.  In fact, I did...in 2006 to get my SEUC.  Local dealer wanted 2K over.  More recently, they are now at MSRP.

If the dealer who quoted you that price is the only game around, then that's a different matter...

Tell him you'll pay that if he'll throw in the 5 addtional year (total 7 years) Extended Service Plan with Tire and Wheel Coverage.  That wouldn't be a bad deal...

MSRP with no freight and prep and a 15 percent discount on parts and labor. The dealership is a 60 mile ride from my house but I'm happy to do it.

I sure hope you are wrong, and think you are.

The Road Glide is my favorite Harley, and I am keeping my Skunk.

I almost went with the anniversary color CVO road glide, but decided I did not need a 12 and 13 of basically the same bike.

The Anniversary will be a keeper like my 03 Fatboy

I know you like your skunk and with reason, that pearl white finish with the ghost flames and...well, it is a great looking bike for sure.  But passing up on an Anniversay RGC?  I think that is the one thing you will regret down the road... here is an opportunity to have three keepers.

I hope I'm wrong for you too but, in my case it was the single worst decision of my life. It handled so poorly I almost wrecked it more times than I could count. Since I traded it somebody has bought and traded it twice in the last year and it's on the dealer's floor now with brand new front roadglide wheel, scratches everywhere, it's been in a ditch for sure....

Strange.  They sit on the same frame, they should handle real close to the same.  I know you will fell buffeting on the handle bars when you pass an 18 wheeler like you do on a Street Glide.  I do not figure it will handle worse than my wifes Street glide.  It handles very well, just air management is better on the Road Glide.

Do not get my wrong, I love my Skunk and am keeping it for a while.

I have ridden kings before, and that is what got me interested in a touring bike to begin with.

I may, however I can not do two new bikes this year.  So I could not see having two CVO road glides a year apart, so the King is what I got.

It does make sense, the object is to have a different experience with each ride. There is no right or wrong, no matter it's always right...

With 20% discount it is less.

The black and chrome look killer on the Road glide, I think they will look fantastic on the Skunk.
