Baker 6 Speed Over Drive Neutral Light Problems
« on: September 18, 2017, 01:59:14 AM »

I got my 98 Road King and the Neutral Light shows Neutral when in gear and does not light when in Neutral. Just the opposite of normal. The switch is open in Neutral and Closed  when in gear.
My FXR4 has a Rivera 6 speed O.D. it has a single post that is grounded when in gear lighting the Neutral Led.  What's the Deal?
Thanks Lynn

I called Baker and told them the problem and they said I needed a single post neutral switch. I ordered the switch but I gotta change the wire connector. It should work fine. I grounded the tan wire and the Neutral light turns on. I hope got the right one. They have them Normally open and normally closed.

I went to my local shop an had two different neutral switches, thing is they had two different thread lengths and both stated they were for the Harley 5 speed transmissions. I have also read they come in normally open and normally closed but the boxes don't state which ones they are. Something so easy shouldn't be so hard to figure out. Has anyone had this problem and solved it. I hate to waste money on the wrong switch. Most shops don't do returns on electrical parts other parts once installed.

There are two different versions of the two post switch that each work exactly opposite the other.  It's not hard to figure out or use though.  If your neutral lights works opposite from how you need it check your current switch with an ohm meter when it's off the bike.  Then just make sure you get the switch that is the opposite.  This is one that thinking about too hard will just cause you problems.

Waiting on knee surgery then tharapy to fix neutral stitch. I am very happy with the Baker 6 speed Over Drive gearset and the 9 plate street clutch is so much better than the Scorpion Clutch in my FXR4
