Having A Brain Fart
« on: September 25, 2017, 10:04:53 AM »

Okay, I've been carrying this card in my wallet for I guess a few years now.

On the reverse, it has the HD shield and then the company's address and website.  At the bottom it has the copyright info about the bar and shield.  It does NOT have any magnetic strip on the reverse, only a bar code in the upper left.

It's been quite a while since I've cashed in my Harley Bucks, but is this an old Harley Bucks gift card?

Sorry, just having a brain fart and need some help on identification of the card.  I'm not near a dealer to ask about it.

If it's nothing but a "card" from HD without any significance, I don't need it in my wallet taking up space.

Thanks, I'm sure it's something stupid.

It's the registration card from when you went to demo rides probably.  It's supposed to make it easy the next time you go to an event like that, but they always make me fill out all the info everytime.  We got them when we helped run the Project LiveWire event also.

Thanks, sounds reasonable.  But I've not done a Harley demo ride since '08 and I don't think I've had the card that long.

I think they use them for all HOG events.  Not sure why we can't use our HOG membership cards but I know they use them at PIN Stops also.  That way they're supposed to be able to scan that card and not have to have you fill out all your info on the iPad.

The only time I've been a HOG member is with the purchase of a new bike.  The last new bike was my '09 SERG.  Is it possible this card came with my HOG membership way back in '10?

If so, I could probably shred it and be done with it then.

Thanks.

If it was a gift card, there would be a phone number to call to get a balance.  Also, a gift card that old would have zeroed itself out a long time ago.  It has no value other than for sentimental reasons, nothing more.

It is not one of the cards you get when demo riding. You say it does not have a mag strip and the demo cards do. I like the demo cards, no longer have to fill out the info, just slide, show your license and print out the paper then ride away. Been using the same one now for couple years.

No mag stripe or chip on it Dan.  So no data of any kind on the card.  Can't be a money card.

The card is used for Harley events. Mostly used when you sign up for demo rides or any event that Harley is sponsoring. It has a 2D barcode on the back that has no personal data in it BUT that code is a link to your personal DL info in Harley's database. So the next time you go to an event it is supposed to make the log in faster.  I know at Bikes Blues & BBQ I had to scan my card which pulled up my DL info name address etc. and I had to sign a waiver before I could do a demo ride.

Thanks everyone for the input.

At this time I'm just going to shred it and move on, not a big deal.
