depends on what bike you have.  if your bike has the narrow primary, it uses less oil than if it has the 'older' primary.  with the older primary, you would use 38 oz for a 'wet' fill.  with the new narrow primary, I have seen wet fills spec at 30 oz, up to 34 oz.  best to double check with your owners manual. 

with either primary, those are just guidelines.  always fill to the bottom of the pressure plate.

Highly suggest you NOT use 20/50 in primary.  Compensator requires at least  "GL1"   EP pressure rated lubricant. Since that's always been an issue for '07 and later not getting much if any oil, it's make it hard for the compensators to live like the older ones. You never hear of a compensator issue from 05 and prior.   

 I use redline primary fluid. It is   GL5 EP rated and will get to the compensator quicker when cold unlike the 20-50 which is thicker and make the clutch release cleaner ,decreasing that " low gear "clunk". Yes 32 oz with the later narrow primary

I had the shifter shaft repaired recently and the indie shop put in Schaeffers Primary oil.

My bike never shifted so nice before, and there is no drag and no problems finding neutral.

I may try the schaeffers, but I've been really happy with shell rotella t 15w-40 ($15 for a gallon).  it is jaso rated for wet clutch use.  don't have issues with shifting or finding neutral, but I've heard a lot of good reports on the schaeffers.

Due to wide/narrow/removed/just drained etc. You really need to check the manual, either one that came with your bike or service manual .

There are many discussions of issues with the older comps but mostly it was the comp nut coming loose which is different than issues from 07 and newer. Never the less still issues just worse.

bike standing upright, fill primary till oil level just touches the clutch spring. been doing it this way for years and no problems what so ever.
